One problem with playing North Jackson, or any Alabama team, is that they are on a different 2 year cycle than Tennessee is. Whitwell only picked them up for 1 year. So a continuous home and home could work, but it could be difficult to arrange. I know we used to play Alabama teams, so I'm not sure when the cycle changed, or if there even was a cycle then.

We always played Bridgeport and Stevenson.  SP shares city limits with Bridgeport.  Playing them was a moral imperative.

Sounds like the Oneida / Scott debate. Haven’t played in 40 years but folks are dead set against it because of when they did. SMDH also.

Crow, Old Pirate says these youngons are like the skillet slinger’s deceased chawawaha when it got into OP’s stash of blue pills. Mostly ran around chasing his azz barking and drooling.

Old Pirate went out on that mountain when my buddy Don coached. Pirates beat them like a stray rabid dog. Course that ended that!

Oh, I remember always playing them, I also remember when we played a few other Alabama teams from time to time. I just don't know when the 2 year "cycle" years changed or if there was such a thing back then.

I also remember that a tetanus shot after the game was an imperative as well.

There really does need to be a way to keep the SP-Jasper game going.  It is also complete bogosity that Jasper quit playing Whitwell.   I think the school board should mandate the 3 schools play each other.

Is you’d gone socialist! Mandating? Ifin theys goin to mandate anything, theys should have made Jasper play Friday! A Feller can’t walk both sides of the street at the same time!

Fellers, let Old Pirate learn you youngons a thang of two. Jasper played NJ, quit playing them cause they discovered them Fellers from down under were way more devious than theys was! Why hasn’t Jasper played NJ in nearly 3 decades?

Let old PP68 learn you a thang or two. NJ quit playing us. We handed them their first loss in school history when they came to Jasper and Pumpy Tudors steamrolled them. The following year we hung their first loss at home on them. We had an All State qb that was on kickoffs and just so happened that a NJ kid that never played picked a fight with him and he got tossed before playing a snap. We put in a 2nd string qb and won that one I believe 30-28. (That 2nd string qb led us to a state title a couple years later though.) They had no interest in playing anymore. Would they play now?? I don't know.

Maybe. Maybe not.

    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
    • I think they have they coach they want close to being done. I guess we will all see how this plays out. I hope the hire a good one. There are some players in the box for the next coach to work with.
    • Going to grundle Troy Fleming?
    • I agree I don't think it will go to trial either, but I feel like that will be because no judge would deem this to warrant a law suit... If the school board settles, they loose and all coaches and schools loose too.
