Now that I just made that last poast  - somebody remind me, was Grundy in the old SVC? Seems like they were so we could have 8 teams?

From North to South - Bledsoe, Sequatchie, Whitwell, Jasper, South Pittsburg, (Grundy??), Bridgeport and Stevenson

Grundy was in the SVC and use to play some good ball.

I hate the fact that old rivalry has faded into the past, and politics of sports have ruined a good thing. It hurts the schools financially - SP / NJ / Jasper games could all be big gates with little more cost than a home game, for the away team. I guess I am not smart enough to understand why you would not drive  < 12 miles to play people you know in front of a big crowd. Plus it's a non-conference game, not counting in the big scheme of getting that shiny ball everyone wants - it might even help if the competition is good.

Last thought - the boys miss out on suiting up, and going against a buddy or even kinfolk.

I remember that NJ game very well. I believe it as a NJ kid that was on the kickoff team that never played who intentionally picked the fight.
