Probably will not be too much smack talk this year. Is Fayetteville a run heavy team? In the game I watched them play they pounded the rock. Both teams look to be fast so that will be negated somewhat. Just happy for the young Falcons on a 4th straight semifinals appearance. Not bad for a school with 210 students.

We can do either. We have several good backs and the QB has been lighting it up the last couple weeks so it could go either way. What does Lake Co do?

They will mix it up as well.Good running backs.Probably will play 2 backd.3 or 4 receivers that can catch the ball with speed.

Agree with 68.Last night we saw what a young team can do.Win or lose Friday night,to lose as many seniors from last years title team and be within one game of returning is a great feat.Young team with talent.Very good sophomore running back.A freshman qb that would start at most schools.Middle school was very good, losing a close game to Northview,a much bigger school that won the state. So a bright future.

I am pumped to be able to call this game for Fayetteville! In the 2 years I have been doing the play-by-play, I see Lake County mentioned a lot here on the board, so it is an honor to get this far and play a storied tradition in 1-A! It'll be a long trip, but a beautiful area to go and see a football game, and both fan bases seem to be friendly, classy people. May the best team win this Friday!

Question - does anybody know if the press box at LC is large enough to accomodate visiting teams radio crew (2 men)? Thanks in advance! Go Tigers!

Hope you enjoy your trip and a safe one.Lake Co does have a rich tradition but pretty young this year losing so much. But last night I saw what they are capable of.If I'm not mistaken the Lake Co team last year won the state, beat West Carroll twice last year and by a similar score. And if not mistaken,West Carroll had most everyone back except maybe a running back but not 100 percent sure .So liked what I saw last night against a bigger physical veteran team.

Press box is small with no room.  101.3, falconsportsradio.com, and other game staff take up all the room.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
