Isn't Alcoa enrollment in the 2A range but they play up to 3A?  Word in the coaching circles in the East has been that Alcoa played up to 3A in this past 4 year cycle so they wouldn't have to compete against Peabody and Union City for a title....  May be hearsay, but that's the word ive heard...

When Alcoa was 2A any team in the west was playing for runner up. We played Goodpasture in the semis in 2007 and if we played Alcoa it wouldn’t be too pretty. I believe in 04 against a Huntingdon team that was really talent it was 51-44. Alcoa isn’t avoiding anyone in 2A

Covington had game won but Alcoa won on last drive of the game.  Is that a weak Alcoa team or a strong Charger team?  2 or 3 years ago.

They would have beaten us 60-7,or 0.   Randall Cobb was QB.   We had a special team but Goodpasture was on another level.  Then Alcoa was off the charts.  GP beat us 42-7.  Alcoa beat the heck out of GP.  And that is an understatement

Covington had a really good squad that year, I believe it was 3 years ago. I believe it was just two really good teams clashing against one another I think that’s the only game besides the CPA game in 14 Alcoa was challenged in Cookeville

Right. The 07 team we had was a very good mix, but wouldn’t have competed with Alcoa. They were just that good

If we could take a few players off of 2014 team and combine them with 18,19,20 boy no one in 2A or 3A would beat us.  May Alcoa in a barn burner.  But no way we beat them with their combined group

You like these IFL game don't ya?

How about adding the F5 to the schedule for the next two years and find out for REAL!:thumb:

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
