I thought I would get a new DII wrestling thread going.  There are some GREAT DII wrestlers out there and would love to develop some heated discussion around this topic.

1) Alex Whitworth - McCallie - 160

  • Arguably most dominant wrestler in TN over last several years

2) David Harper - Baylor - 195

  • All-American and rated high Nationally

3) James Howard - McCallie - 285

  • TREMENDOUS athleticism for a HWT, DI Football talent, rated high Nationally

4) Parker Petersen - Father Ryan - 285

  • 2-Time Finalist (170, 195), NHSCA AA, has been great at 3 weight classes

5) Emory Taylor - McCallie - 138

  • 3x champ, DI wrestler, National Prep AA, bad losses in National tourneys

6) Gavin Cagle - McCallie - 170

  • 2x champ, DI wrestler, lost to lesser wrestler last season or he would be higher

7) Garrison Dendy - Baylor - 138

     * DI talent, couple of tough losses in Florida this season

8) Dayne Dalrymple - Christian Brothers - 120

  • Great talent, lost this season or would be higher

9) Jackson Bond - Baylor - 113

     * Potential to be one of the greats in the state

10) Aiden Bowers - Christian Brothers - 138

     * Will be DI wrestler, bad loss, to good wrestler, in finals at Mater Dei this year or would be higher

With all due respect to the wrestlers on your list, How do you put kids that didn’t even win their weight class last year in the State and not even the best overall on their own teams? Peterson, I believe got majored at State last year and you have him 4 (does not mean I don’t think he’s. Very good wrestler)? Several kids on your list have been getting beat this year by other kids from TN not on your list. If you can’t win TN and dominate your weight class here (outside of being on DL, not wrestling anymore like Howard or Roller/Ivy situation)  If you lack National wins or don’t excel on National level do you deserve to be on list? Who is most dominant at their weights and on their teams is where you start. No particular order: Whitworth, Cagle, Taylor, Corday, Dendy, Harper, Bowers, Dalrymple, Roller, Ivy

I don’t see 2 time defending state champ at 195 (now at 220) and 2 time defending 4A football champ Deuce Morton on this list? I can’t see leaving such a dominant wrestler off? I guess it’s because we are in East Tennessee. The land of no respect. If he can pull it off, he would leave school with 5 state titles. 3 wrestling and 2 football. As it stands now, not to shabby with 4. Your thoughts?

You are talking about an A/AA wrestler on a thread about DII... hence you won't see him on the list.  Not too many thoughts there.

Big Dave there is another thread that discusses the A/AA P4P and Mr. Jonathan Morton is mentioned in that list.
