As I’ve said throughout this thread, there is no comments that could have been made to justify getting attacked. My comments on “controlling the narrative” mean that they are putting out the information that makes them look the best. Dyer Co did the same thing in the State Gazette. Neither is mentioning the things that make themselves look bad. Truth may not make it out to the general public; but if it does, I think you’ll see disciplinary action on both sides.

I knew you have not justified any violence from your posts. Mine was more of a rhetoric question or statement. The two statements I believe are not the same. One school uses alleged comments while the other is review safety for their kids and coaches. If Dyer County did something to bring on this i do think they will take action themselves. It will not happen at the other school. TSSAA should step in and look at it before the next round of games.

The fact that Shields son was caught on camera changing from a blue hoody to all black and then was caught on camera running at the group proves that this was premeditated way before Dyer County exited. From every credible resource I’ve talked to. Every fan, player, and coach was in their group leaving about 30 minutes after the game was over. Nothing was said to Shields, no insults no anything. But Atleast her son has admitted to it.

This is mostly consistent with what I've heard. I've heard the motive was potentially related to something McCord had said about the other coach, but not sure that has been confirmed (and still isn't justification for it happening). Regardless, it is a big problem, and one that will have ramifications beyond the basketball court. If the Coach had any knowledge about what was going to happen before it did or even directed it to happen, she should face serious disciplinary action.

Until they sort everything out and find out who knew what, it is hard to say what should/will happen. We've seen teams thrown out of tournament play for fighting. Granted, this wasn't during the game, and wasn't necessarily players doing the fighting, but if they aided or instigated those who caused they fight, you might see the TSSAA step in. A bad situation, for sure.

Agreed bad situation. There will be more to come to light on this matter. I do t even have a dog in the fight but I do know the Dyer county coach is a prick along with his bald headed ast coach..  They are two ego maniacs..

They have made up so many stories from the first game they played at Dyers county.  Their fans were threatening the Arlington team and the Dyers police had to escort Arlington out.  The whole week before they played last night. The Dyers head coach was talking trash about Coach Shields. So bad that one of their players stood up for her and he kicked her out of practice  They wrote a article of lies in their news paper about how Arlington did this and that. When their fans were way out of line...

Way to join 45 minutes ago and make an argument about this. No matter how much you want to cover it up or try to justify anything. This should have never happened to McCord whether you like him or not. And the fact that it was coach Shields son is unacceptable. She is liable, Arlington high school is liable, and the TSSAA should be liable. I’d hate to be Chris Duncan right now. If he doesn’t play this the right way, I here that he may lose his job.

Total BS. Get your geography and police jurisdictions right first.

What is sad is that the Dyer County Head coach and assistants have always been allowed to act the way they do. The Head coach incites their fans, players, and everyone else, then steps back and plays the victim.  How noble. The administration at Dyer County needs to put clamps on him. He has acted like this for years with NO penalty, hence the reason their fans scream, cuss, berate others everywhere they go. Nobody condones what happened and it looks bad on Arlington because of where it was at, however, it could have happened anywhere and could not have happened to a better person. You ask any coach or fans they play how their fans and coaches act and you will get an honest answer. They are awful and represent their school in an awful way. It is sad he is allowed to act the way he does. Arlington has always ran  first class programs and to my knowledge, this is the first time I have ever heard of anything like this happening there. It happens to lots of teams that go to Dyer County.

Bad situation for sure. Personally don’t see how TSSAA could penalize players unless they have solid proof there was a connection. Will be interesting how this unfolds. They play tomm. night I would bet.

I’ve heard that one of their player drove the boy who attacked McCord away and that several other Arlington players were enticing the fighting. It was said that several girl players were with the men who approached the Dyer county group where the minor physically assaulted McCord

Tough call for TSSAA but again emotions running high and the girls didn’t do the attacking. You have seen fights break out on the court in college and the one throwing the punches are the one’s that lose games. Bad situation but ejecting players that didn’t attack I don’t think is good either. The boy is in trouble no doubt.

I actually have a job and don’t have time sit around and gossip all day like some of you hillbillies...   Take the L a move on.

False. McCord and his bald headed ast. Coach were running their  mouths. They got waxed on the court and he got out coached.

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
