In no way have I justified anything or anyone. I've said nothing warrants a physical assault other than a phyical assault. Arlington should have the guts to investigate and do the right thing.

I'm from Dyer County. I wore Orange and White for 4 years. I've had more sweat drop on the old court (now Northview Middle) than people can imagine. I've been a volunteer coach at 3 Oaks, Northview, and helped a bit at DC. I know the realities of this place.

As a teacher I don't want to see kids get punished for things others do.

You cannot in anyway shape form or fashion deny how the attitude around DC basketball has morphed since McCord has been there. Coach Hopkins was there from 94-2004 he didn't allow for the nonsense that goes on now. We had great fan support and the fans were welcoming. Pete Frodden took over and nothing like that would have even been considered. Fans were nonexistent so that wasn't a problem. Then McCord gets the job in 2007 immediately the whole program changed in a negative way. The players are running wild not just at school but in town too. I still go back from time to time and talk to some people I went to school with. All I hear is the negative. Coach Hopkins wasn't a people person by any means but no one bashed him 100% of the time. To top it off now visiting fans are saying the DC is a horrible place to go because fans are rude, cursing opposing teams, and just general rude behaviour. That is what is truly telling about how a place is being managed.

This is the typical “yeah but” response that I would expect from you. So you give the “token” acknowledgment of the fact “someone did something “ that you don’t agree with and that Arlington should self investigate?  After that here comes the “but” because you then start placing blame on Dyer County fans, players and their coaching staff for a premeditated, blind sided criminal assault??? Are you for real right now?  Arlington isn’t going to do anything it was the coaches son who planned out and executed the crime!  This right here is what is wrong with society as a whole. This kind of moronic thinking and to top it off you’re a school teacher.  SMH

Sorry you are a disgruntled former alumni. Guess McCord didn't do things you approved of or didn't play who you thought should be playing who was maybe your relative and  part of the old guard thinking DC was just for a certain group. DC fans cursing and being rude is pure BS. Anyone visiting someone else's gym has said that a thousand times. I've been in hundreds. DC crowd is more subdued that most faith based places I've visited. But if you are a visitor and you stand up scream and cuss at scorekeeper and other fans like the crowd from Arlington crowd and get escorted out of the building. I guess it is a bad place to you but thats how they act at their place too. But instead of screaming at scorekeepers they scream and cuss at players. But to say it is any ones fault but the ones who planned and carried out an assault on a visiting coach after a game which they won and were told good luck afterwards because of what you say is poor management is really sad and laughable.

I have a relative that plays. She doesn't know I'm related to her. Shes a guard on the girls team. I think she plays quite a bit.

I've heard the fans myself. To bring faith into it is laughable. That has nothing to do with anything here.

I didn't say it was anyones fault. You should really knock that chip off your shoulder. Deep down you know McCord isn't liked by the majority in Newbern. You know that McCord does as he pleases and no one says or does anything about it.

Arlington failed to protect people on it's campus. That was their fault. They will probably face litigation and lose. A person related to the Arlington coach carried out an attack. That person should be face the law and whatever consequences come with it. If Arlington's coach knew about it or helped plan it she should face the law and be fired and never allowed to coach again. If Arlington players where invovled then the players should be banned for the rest of the year.

No one said it was ok for this to happen.

However, running your mouth, especially in our word today, will come back to bite you. It might take years. I would like to know what McCord said in practice and how it was neccessary for him to say it out loud. A coach can feel anyway he wants about opposing players and coaches but if it has nothing to do with his game plan there is no, absolutley no value, zero, in speaking it out loud to your players. I would also like to know what he said to gauge the reaction that it brought. There are alot of things that can be let go and should be let go. What did he say that was so bad that someone wanted to attacke him?

And if all of this started with that little technical and few words exchanged in the video that was posted on this thread earlier that makes it even more pathetic. That was a wek foul, an undisciplined player, and a coach that lost her cool, along with a referee with a quick whitlse. All of that was a joke.

If that was the tinder that started this whole fire then both coaches need to grow up and be adults.

I see you didn't address the 2007 incident at Liberty nor the fight at DC with OCHS. Two different coaches two different things.

From all the reports that I have seen in that have been posted on this thread this young man had this planned out so it was planned out before the game even started so I don’t believe anything during the game had anything to do with the planned assault. When you bring a change of clothes and you basically hide until they come out to attack them that’s a premeditated criminal felony.

You need to back off.

I didn't say anything about you in this at all. You have no reason to come at me here.

You wanna get upset about all the other stuff in the other threads then keep it there.

You want to really settle this then we can exchange phone numbers. I won't take garbage from you.

I sure won't take it here.

What I said has been said numerous times in this thread.

People from DC want to play like they haven't had their share of trashy moments.

In today’s society we have 15-year-olds murdering people on a daily basis. So the fact of this young man did what he did raises a lot of concern.  When I grew up if you have a problem with somebody you took it up with him man-to-man face-to-face you knuckled up and when it was over it was over but that’s not the case today it’s a whole different world as we all know so I just don’t like seeing something like this brushed under the rug like it was nothing because this is serious. What if you had an individual from the other side that’s just as crazy as this young man with a gun? Then something really bad happens. I have already said that the Arlington girls won the game on the floor and should be allowed to play in the state tournament as long as they did not participate in this crime the coach however should no way no how be able to step foot in Murphy Center.

What police reports have you seen?

What actual evidence have you seen?

This is not when you grew up. That is irrelevant.

So now you're saying what I said?

You always come here saying what you like and what you don't like. What you think is right. What you think is wrong. Fact is there are avenues, especially in our world today, to start things that make a change.

If you've said all that you said you did then I have no idea why you would make a post about what I said to another person. Then make that underhanded remark about me also being a teacher.

My choice of profession and how I provide for my family has nothing to do with you.

You’re deflecting from the fact that a crime was committed here. From what everyone has said it was the coaches son who committed and you expect the school to self discipline/ investigate. they aren’t going to impose any kind of real sanctions on themselves that’s never going to happen. So what do you say to the coach who was assaulted from behind what are your words to him is it his fault that it happened?

The only reason you want  issues from 2007 address is to take the focus off a crime committed. The chip on the shoulder clearly seems to be with you. Coaching staff hasnt done things like you have not  liked, everybody hates the coach and the school is the problem so its ok to beat him up, literally.  You have no idea what was said and still you want to give a pass for an assault. You really have no idea what you are talking about except to down the DC program . I get it. Disgruntled alumni and hidden family member. I get all the negative comments now.

I've said it was wrong and there is no justification.

If you need me to say what is understood I will do that just for you. An aggravated assault happended. I think it's a Class C Felnoy in TN. A minor committed the crime. It will be handled in juvenile court.

Arlington can self impose anything they want. They failed to protect a person on their property. They can remove themselves from competition. They can suspend/fire their coach. They can expell any Arlington students invovled. They did not. It is my understanding that Arlington Community Schools isn't the one that filed the injunction. It was some of parents of players that did it.

As far as who is at fault it can be seen in different ways. I don't expect you to do anything but argue. You can deduct that for yourself.
