Blaze I agree with some of what you stated.

First it's not just private schools getting talent from metro schools. Metro has created an environment where metro kids go to schools that win, not their zoned schools. If athletically gifted kids can't get into or afford private schools they are going to schools that win in metro.

As far as teacher pay, metro is near the top in the state and in many cases much more than private school pay. You are correct in facilities but some are pretty good in metro. East and Glencliff have all new facilities. Hillsboro and Hillwood soon to come. Now do they compare to Ensworth or LA, no but not bad for public schools.

Plenty of kids sign scholarships from metro schools. Look at CR, PC, Hillsboro, and EN to name schools that put kids in college. Overton still has kids that get signed each year too.

As far as bringing everyone together for a program in metro.....thats the tough part especially at a school as diverse as Overton.

Can it happen, yes but it will take the right coach to keep kids at Overton and they have to win now.

I agree, but I guess the simplest way for me to put it would be like this, That kid that is going to s school that is not real competitive has a is a struggling school academically but plays pretty good ball, is going have a tougher time getting spotted by those division 2 schools than that kid with pretty good skill playing at a very competitive school, simply because there are more looks at that school.  Maybe I am  wrong, but just my thoughts

    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
    • Are you trying to say you didn't find Seven and ShadySlim going at it?
