Tell that to Greeneville, Maryville,  Alcoa, and Elizabethton who are all City School systems who are consistent.  Coaching and Culture are the two huge factors with community support is the key to success.  All these programs have great youth programs that have coaches teaching the same thing that they would learn when they get to the high school level when they are 5.  A lot are former players and coaching running these youth programs in their town

I think you may have misunderstood.  You probably should have read a little further back.

Judging by what Fred previously said, I think he meant to say "metro" not city.

something like that.  I'd say if you only have one or two high schools, then you're not exactly a city district.  I think of Hamilton, Knox, Memphis, Murfreesboro, metro nashville as the city schools.  Sorry for cornfusion.

Didn’t misunderstood, I wouldn’t have used the word City instead Metro since all the schools I mentioned are City School systems were they have County School systems in those same Counties also.

I still believe the latter part of my comment is why these programs are were they are not the Metro vs Rural debate

Yeah.  @RollRed just wants something to whine about.  Honestly, it's the small town programs that are most likely to turn into long-term power houses:

Greeneville

Maryville

Elizabethton

AC

Alcoa

That's just on our side of the state.  They have similar situations in Middle and west TN?

@Swipes  Those are programs I cited as consistent, so i think you did misunderstand.

No you miss spoke after naming them as consistent programs by saying City Schools aren’t consistent.  All those programs are in the City School system.  You should have stated Metro vs Rural not City vs County.

"Rural City" don't make no sense.

Well tell these schools systems to change their name then.  YOU used the word City Schools which all these are City Schools in Counties that have more than one School System.  Like i said you miss spoke when using the words City School's instead of Metro Schools.  Can't call them consistent and then say City Schools aren't consistent when all but AC you mentioned are City Schools......

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
