Peabody vs McKenzie (West Semi Finals)

I was once told I am a homer. I was told that I did not give objective opinions.  I got a call the other night by a fellow who said he was proud of me putting down the Tide coaches and telling the truth about the game.  I said what in the heck are you talking about?  He said,  and quote, "The coaches made a mistake and they would not admit it.  But if he was listening closer, he would have heard my reply to that.  I won't deny saying that and I am sure it was a mistake on my part but I do remember saying immediately after that statement that our staff would never blame anyone but themselves even though they did not warrant it.  Do coaches make mistakes, absolutely, but so do fans.  How is it possible for anyone in Tide country to criticize this current staff.  They are the hardest workers I've ever been around.  So, am I a homer? Yes.  And I am proud to be a Peabody guy.  I am and I always will be.  As long Coach Jacobs and his staff are around, this will be a successful program, even at 5-5.  4 Gold balls in 7 years.  We are so proud of this football programs and we salute our seniors for a job well done.  We have been blessed by the football gods and now its time to share the wealth.  Roll Tide!

It is on NFHS Network. It will cost you about $10 for 1 month subscription but to me it’s worth it if your area doesn’t broadcast the State Championships on cable.

10.99 a month NFHS , it’s not great a lot of the times, but is better than not seeing games at all.

Thank you

4 Titles in 7 years is some good work. Fans will be fans. Coaches obviously know what they are doing. I still think you guys had most talented overall team this year but ran into another dang good football team that was more hungry and played the better game that night. Outside of Alcoa or Maryville I’m not sure if anyone else in last 20 years has matched what you guys have done. How many starters are back each way next season?

The successful record that Peabody has defines the coaching staff and the players. Not one or two plays. I’d say they have an excellent coaching staff and the players should be very proud of everything they have accomplished! ROLL TIDE!!! (Unless they’re playing the Cardinals!:D)

Can’t replace Ganoway’s but sounds like you will have enough back to overcome them to make another run. West is definitely loaded again next year. Im just keeping it real

    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
    • I think they have they coach they want close to being done. I guess we will all see how this plays out. I hope the hire a good one. There are some players in the box for the next coach to work with.
    • Going to grundle Troy Fleming?
    • I agree I don't think it will go to trial either, but I feel like that will be because no judge would deem this to warrant a law suit... If the school board settles, they loose and all coaches and schools loose too.
