I am hearing that Rankin is coming back to the Boro!

Coming back, but not quite that far north, from what the word I am hearing is.

And if you read his interview, he never said he was retiring from coaching.

Could he be heading to The Webb School in Bell Buckle?  It’s a boarding school and he would be able to legally recruit!  IMO, if Gary continues to coach it will be at a small Class A public school where he will be given free reign to do whatever he feels necessary to win.  Gary does not want to answer to anyone!

He's not going to Webb Bell Buckle.  And you probably need to look at the TSSAA rules concerning recruiting. It's illegal to recruit for athletic purposes in both public and private schools.  But, yeah, some play in the margins better than others.

Unless one is his own headmaster or heads the Board of Directors/Trustees at a private school or is a public school superintendent, coaches have to answer to somebody. They all have bosses to be accountable to.

The TSSAA seems to turn a blind eye to what the privates do.

It will be interesting to see if Alcoa can continue their dominance after this legendary coach is gone. I don’t think you’ll see much of a difference this year or even next but after that I think the sledding might get a little tougher but until that happens The Tornadoes are on top of 3A with no one else having a chance!
