Yep.  Apparently turned out to be a separated AC and not torn.  Haven't heard the degree of separation, which will determine how long he's out.  But again, from what I understand, a separation means no surgery and it can be treated with rehab, which is obviously a good thing. 

Powell is a completely different team without him.  The sophomore backup is a bright kid, but he just doesn't have the ability to extend plays like Potts does.  

And as you said, the Powell defense is not very good right now, especially against the run between the tackles.  Vaughan and LaDue could have big nights.

Congrats HTV on Kicking Cancer's Butt ! Glad to hear Potts wasn't as bad as everyone thought ... I'm like you Greyrider, I  would have much preferred Powell at full strength , think it would really help our guys get ready for some other big games later on . Maryville can't have a letdown , I bet Powell will come out fighting mad !

I think Maryville wins this game fairly straightforwardly even with a completely healthy Powell team. With Powell missing  QB1, I don't even think there's much to discuss. Maryville puts up their standard 42 points.

Powell's offense will definitely have a different look, and certainly not a better look, without Pott's ability to make decisions and extend plays.  I feel for the young backup, and he is still young as a sophomore who hasn't played in meaning full minutes yet.  Seeing Maryville in his first start is a daunting task.  

That said, I don't see the huge, huge numbers being put up by Maryville that some do.  Derek just doesn't do that.  If he has a big lead he'll use it as an opportunity to get younger guys Friday night snaps.  That's his history.
