Anderson County Travels to 6A Science Hill Week #2

Recommended Posts

Can’t see Science Hill winning this one. They have a pretty good defense but virtually no offense. They’re going to try to run the ball. It was evident last Friday night that Carter doesn’t trust his QB to throw it. The Toppers are really young this year with little experience. They have some talent and size on both sides of the ball but they lack experience. Add in that their C can’t play this week and I just don’t see any way the Toppere win this one.

Well they took down Betsy and it would be a stretch to say Betsy is horrible. But you made some good points. But this still be huge win for Mavs and hopefully the Mavs don't let there guard down. Long way to travel for nothing lol

Big win in the sense that the Hill is one of the largest schools in the state and is 6A. But i really dont believe they are that good. AC protects the ball and conditioning shows up in the 4th...... AC by 2-3 TDs. (it could be worse than that0.

.

Many were picking Powell to repeat so if AC beat them... that's saying something. SH looked disorganized and inexperienced. And without their center they're sure to have some more bad snaps this Friday. I'm going with AC.

Not trying to take anything away from AC, but Powell wasn't going to win after Potts got hurt in the first qtr.

Had to make sure the good folks from JC got the full story :D

Yeah Greeneville gave me heck when I tried to explain that when a starting QB goes out that is, most of time, A big chunk of offense and when it's first game that's another variable.

I hope Potts is ok. I understand he may be back. Not sure about the RB have not heard anything.

Potts has an AC joint separation, so it just depends on the severity. Definitely will be out for a few more weeks at least. Haven't heard anything on the RB, but that helmet to the knee looked like it could be season ending.

Elizabethton isn’t very good right now. I think they’ll improve as the season goes on but they didn’t look impressive in their first game. Science Hill beat them in a down year.

Science Hill will find out a lot about themselves this week. Anderson County is a lot better than the team they played last Friday.

The Hilltoppers are very young on both sides of the ball with very few players with varsity experience. They lost their starting QB, RB, top two WRs and almost all the starters on defense from last year. They’ve got some talent and a  plenty of athleticism but it’s going to take some time for them to figure things out and really find an identity as a team.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
