I think I’m about the only one that’s posted about/for Knox Catholic for the last few years. Team is very young especially at the skill positions but more importantly, Trevor Duncan a Tennessee signee hasn’t played yet after an off field injury. He should be back soon. He already looks like a SEC defensive lineman and will provide help on both lines. At least Powell and West have played us when it’s hard to get other Knoxville teams to play us. We’ve been short games the last few years because no one will play us. Webb has the best team they’ve had in a while and we both had open dates Friday but they wouldn’t play us. Nothing like passing up a game you could literally walk to when both teams need a game?????

I totally get it.  You guys were killing most of the teams up there.  Some of us Middle Tn fans don't like that you joined because of how they split us up.  All Nashville teams don't play each other which is a shame.  BA and Ensworth on one side, MBA, Ryan, and Pope on the other side.  Meanwhile, all Memphis teams play each other, and Chattanooga schools play each other.  Three hour drive for some in the area to go to Knoxville game.

Most of the east TN talk is about Maryville,Alcoa, Greenville and Elizabethton. Playing CHucky Doak won’t inspire conversation.  They were drubbed by a team most don’t consider a threat in Baylor.  They also lost Lively who seems to be flourishing at Friendship Christian.  Most D2 posters are in middle Tn so we have to get the scoop from you guys.  BTW- would love to see that Maryville/Alcoa game this year.  Love reading the pregame posts for that one.You and BC are best buds!

Why did the Lively kid leave ? Parents get relocated to Lebanon?

No offense to Baylor. They have some really good players on the team.  But they are the 4th best team in the East on any given day swapping with Father Ryan and Knoxville Catholic.  All of them have talent.  I think Baylor has beaten KC two years running.  Ryan has beaten Baylor two years running.  KC has beat Ryan last year.  I don't believe any of these have beaten MBA or Pope in the past two years.

Catholic beat Baylor last year 31-21. Baylor is a very well coached team and they have speed and talent on offense and defense.  Catholic lost to PJPII last year 36-33 and MBA 17-10.  In my opinion OL and DL are the major factors in competing in D2.  Catholic lost a lot of skill players from last year.

I think KC would be in the mix if they still hard Martin, Winton, and Lively.  Those transfers hurt in my opinion.  They were/are excellent players.  You are right- OL/DL is huge in the division which is why MBA is rolling.

@JRB corrected me on my post about KC vs Baylor and PJP.  He loves to point out my mistakes!:thumb:

The three hour drive isn’t as bad for football since they games are on Friday nights but the midweek games for all the other sports are BRUTAL not to mention the travel costs. Hard to have any fan support as a visiting team or build rivalries when students can’t attend the games. Losing the hour coming home doesn’t help. LOL

I think in other sports the D2-AAA teams in middle TN no longer play the schools out east or west until the playoffs.

Catholic has enough money to travel.  Alcoa used to have to play teams in Kentucky every year to fill their schedule but they never played Chuckey-Doak or South Greene.   Did the student section matter against those teams for KC?  What a joke

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
