osunut2
Karns was running the clock out with a 35-31 lead, when Bishop fumbled inside the Carter 10 with just over a minute to play. With no timeouts, Carter goes 91 yards for the go-ahead TD with 0.7 seconds to take a 37-35 lead. On the ensuing kickoff, the Carter kicker squibbed it directly to an up-back who was laying on the ground at the 50. The clock never started. After a lot of confusion, the officials allowed the play to stand with 0.7 seconds left. The Karns QB throws a bomb into the end zone on the ensuing play, which appeared to be caught by both Bishop and a Carter DB. Players from both teams were celebrating like it was an INT (Carter) or a TD (Karns). Officials ruled it an INT. I'm not sure who caught it, but what a crazy finish. It looked like simultaneous possession from the Diamond Clear Media feed. Edited September 24, 2022 by osunut2

Jeez, the officials didn't make that very clear.

According to a Karns coach, that's what the official told them.

I'll have to go back and see if he actually caught it short of the goal line.

I just saw a replay of the ending. What a mess by the referees. Not sure of the rules but looked like both teams caught the ball so karns should’ve been rewarded with the Td. bounder
The offense always gets possession in a "double" catch. Would have liked to have seen that game.

(Bishop was in the endzone before he body made contact with the ground
CherokeeTrail
So the last play should’ve never happened anyway. There was .7 on the clock when the last squib kick happened… ref never ran the clock and after coach Taylor showing his azzzz for 15 min they decided to do one last play even though the game should’ve been over. Can’t run another play unless there’s .8 but anyway on the last play the ball was actually intercepted at the 1 yard line but there was also a flag on the play for QB throwing the ball after crossing the LOS. CherokeeTrail
Moral of the story… karns had a chance to run the clock out… bishop got his cookies took with 2 minutes left and Carter drove it right down for the game winning 6. This is after the Carter coach showed his #### for 5 minutes. Makes sense
