UNRULY PARENTS DRIVING OUT REFS AND COACHES

I think it's the fans' fault. Fans don't do enough. They don't pay enough for tix, equipment, or travel, nor do they give enough time. Fans definitely need to sacrifice more.

I think Childress and about a dozen other dudes making $200k a year apiece is justified. If anything, they are underpaid.

We simply don't have it in the budget for more refs. Nor to increase the pay for those who do.

The solution is to sit quietly during the games and never challenge or even mention any mistakes made by coaches or refs.

Big difference in asking questions or mentioning mistakes vs cursing them & telling them how awful they are. Refs miss calls, coaches make the wrong calls too. Humans brother… all humans.

I usually hang out in the 4a section but this was an interesting read.

My thoughts are we have a shortage now that will get worse.  It's not just any one thing but a lot of it is the abuse officials suffer.

If your kids are good enough to play in college at the next level,  one or two missed calls ain't changing that.  Their body of work over a season will speak for itself.  They may play 300 snaps a year on just one side of the ball. Even half a dozen bad calls won't change what they did.  A college coach will still see what they need to.

    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
