Based on results of last year I will say Dodgen at Farragut

State title in baseball and softball

Girls basketball runner-up

Boys basketball had their best  year and would have been the favorite to get to state had it not been for the pushing match heard around the world.

Not quite a huge accomplishment considering they’re the largest enrollment in the state public. They should be dominant in Football as Well.
But they’re not even close.

How many schools can claim those titles in the same year? To win one in any sport is an accomplishment…to win two and a runner-up in the same year. Boys basketball could have added another if not for the debacle. All those other schools in the same classification can’t say that. Even the lower classes can’t say that.

I know Farragut has had a stellar baseball programs since the 80’s. Not sure how many D1 guys they’ve turned out but i know it’s an awful lot.

Let’s get one of these going. Here’s mine, in no particular order.

1. JD Lambert

2. Gary Terry

3. Ashley Speas

what say you?

Definitely not any of the ADs at 4A+ schools in UET other than Elizabethton maybe. Not sure I'd count Greenville a part of UET. Good ole boy system most places. For the smaller schools like Johnson County harder to say because the talent difference between a tiny mountain community school like Johnson County and Alcoa is massive. Alcoa recruits left and right and lives in a more populated area where it can actually recruit/attract talent in the first place.

Just slightly above 2,000. Jeff County, Bearden, HVA, Dobyns-Bennett, and Science Hill, just to name a few have a lot more students.

Think the issue is Jeff County, DB and Science Hill are in FBE compared to Knoxville or Nashville area. Harder to develop talent when there's little to no camps. Basically teaching 16-17 yos what other kids have known since they were 5 years old.

    • Now that wouldn’t surprise me a bit. That has been going on heavily since the days of Larry Kerr @ AC. One of the major reasons CC has never really had much at all, barring about 2 seasons in football. AC milks it dry.
    • Interesting how quite it is. Rumors are going around that Anderson County is being looked at by TSSAA for recruiting violations with the Campbell County transfers.
    • I heard from a member of the teaching staff that there has been a dispute over use of the game field between football, and girls lacrosse team. Girls had a game and wanted to warm up and football coaches did want to leave. The football coaches came down hard with some bad vulgar language and the girls lacrosse backed down. What a classy act BHS athletics has become.
    • The lawsuit requests a jury trial. Sable Winfree has extremely competent legal representation. FYI - her lawyer represented the Warren County school system for years, and I believe he knows what constitutes a reasonable lawsuit.
