What is the state placement/seeding criteria and if only 1 wrestler meets that criteria how is the rest of the bracket built.

If no former placers in bracket won sectionals they will just throw the wrestlers out there with each section of a bracket having a section champ vs 4th from another section, 2nd from a section vs 3rd from a section. So each section champ can meet another in the semis. If 1 returning placer is a section champ he will be seeded on the top line and the rest of the section champs randomly placed in the bracket. 
 

If there are more section champs that are also former placers they will usually seed them based upon the higher placer at a higher weight from previous year. I’ve also seen them place a 2nd place returner at a higher rate ahead of a defending state champ from a lower weight(example state champ 106 other seeded wrestler 2nd at 120) with the 120 kid being seeded higher than the 106 at 126. Our state should be ashamed but as TSSAA has shown in everything from wrestling to football even, they only care about their bottom line and lining the pockets of those that run the TSSAA.

Looking at just the number of qualifiers… individual team race will get interesting. Could this be the year we see a champ other than Cleveland/Bradley?  How long has it been since someone other than those two have won?

Soddy in 2012. However to find a champ other than those 3, you have to go all the way back to 2000 when Clarksville won it

the lack of true seeding is glaring. a few finals will happen before the final. and a few medalists will medal solely because of draw.
