Yes honestly they have no real competition and this year it’s mainly Cloudland. Greenback is down and OZ may be their toughest game they have in the regular season in region play.

The honest truth the biggest thorn in CF side the last 5-7 years has been Greenback. They have gotten them in the regular season and playoffs more than anyone. Gordonsville got them twice but that was regular season and CF thumped Gville good in 2019 regular season.

They sure did. We had a lot of freshman/sophomores playing at that time

Then when those kids were upperclassmen we returned the favor

I’m not a Coalfield fan just an outsider that’s been apart of many many Coalfield vs Oneida games and have grown to respect them from those games. The way that program is ran is ran the right way.

In my opinion it’s coaching mostly. They scheme and plan better than most in 1A. I’d give them the nod in coaching in region 1 & 2 small A ball. Maybe up to 3A except Alcoa but honestly I don’t know if the current Alcoa staff or any other staff regardless of classification could produce any better results with what coalfield has to work with. I’m not a fan of coalfield at all but I do respect what they’ve consistently accomplished there.

What I think is the best part is how after the Henry’s sadly passed away the coaching has stayed the same. It’s almost as if they are still right with them every Friday night.

Same for Greenback as well right??

No if I’m being honest I don’t actually feel that way about coalfield or greenback. I do wish they’d lose one game a year by 100 (when we play them) but honestly I don’t wish any ill will for either program. They’re both small schools that regularly smack around larger schools (like us) and more often than not field a quality team. If I’m honest I respect both a lot and wish them success as long as they’re not lined up across from us. The “hope they lose by 100” is more smack talk BS than anything really.

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
