Don’t know that the Irish were missing much.

I assumed Oak Ridge was missing a few players because they usually have guys play both sports, the only rotation Catholic player that plays football is Quincy (maybe Aron),  But then again I don't know who the new players would be for the Irish. Nevertheless a good win by Coach Blair and staff.  I hope they do well this season,  tough schedule for Catholic.

Expect Dobyns-Bennett to be a strong team that can make a 3rd straight state tournament.

Chris Poore is without question one of the best HS Coaches in the State. How do you replace the dynamic duo of Stump and Gillespie? With 6 really good guards, most all Sophs.

Open tonight vs Volunteer (state tournament team last season)

Poore seems year in and year out to get the absolute most he can out of his guys regardless of how much talent they do or don’t have

Not sure Quincy is playing. Didn’t participate this summer to focus on football. You know Q that sometimes they change their mind once football is over….

You need to get a clue.

Long way to go, but watching the game last night I would agree with him right now.  Definitely not the team we had the last two years.  A 51 point win over Volunteer may look nice from the naked eye, but Volunteer lost all five starters from last year's state tournament team and was, to put it frank, not very good.  As he said, the conference is very weak this year.  West Ridge lost to Cocke County last night at home, Boone lost their Mr. Do It All.  Crockett dropped down a classification and I think the Hill stayed mainly intact, but should only see marginal improvement this year.

Good news is with Crockett dropping down, nobody is eliminated before the region tournament this year.

Will we get better as the season goes along?  Of course.  Will we get good enough to make it to the glass house?  Only time will tell, but definitely need a lot of improvement over last night for sure.

East TN 4A will be Oak Ridge and Sevier County if I had to put money on it.  Maryville is only other team that I think could beat those two since they won vs Sevier last night.  DB and Sevier Co leagues are very weak.  Region 2:  Oak Ridge has a cakewalk in District 3 and then District 4 is brutally tough, but any of those teams could defeat a Region 1 Sectional opponent.  Still would not pick against OR and SC right now in a tournament setting.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
