Where does DCA go?

The solution/answer is to promote Beau and give Mr Basketball Paul’s money.   That would be the answer to the riddle.

The solution is to hire the very best candidate available and then get out of his way and let the man do his job!  Promoting from within is the easy hire and the most excruciating fire.  Winning will solve most all of the problems and issues.

What DCA should consider based on feedback is fixing boys basketball immediately.   And fixing basketball as a whole for the good of the school.    We can post records in basketball and anywhere else there would be change.

Football will be fine no matter who they hire.

The front runners for the job are good candidates, but not what they thought they would be down to.   We wish them luck.

If loyalty truly matters, then be loyal.  Actions speak louder than words.   Right now with a birdseye view, there is only loyalty to people that are protecting their own self interests.

It would be best for all parties involved.

Those that choose to complain, will complain no matter what.   They are waiting for an answer to their prayers.  They want to see the school be successful.  They want to see winning at the highest level.   One bad decision cost a generation worth of alumni that care about the program.   But that can be fixed when those same people choose to come back.

And that starts at the top with Keith and Dennis.   They need prayers.   Some would say, they need to get out of the way and let the Lord handle it.   I choose to believe there is a higher ceiling than many realize.

Very simple process.  Hire people, not resumes.  If you hire the right people, it all works out in the end.

The longer it drags out, the better the process for everyone.   There is no reason to be in a rush.

Be a fountain, and God bless all!

Well said.  I like your thought process.

Dennis Goodwin has had this program on target as Coach and AD for over 30 years. The next coach will be a winner, no need to rush when making sure it's the right fit for future of DCA football program. I'm sure the DCA job had a lot of applicants because of its winning tradition and the fact that its never available only two coaches in over 30 years.

Coach Goodwin is as good of a Coach Tennessee High School football has had.  I know for a fact that he relied heavily on 2 men over the years as assistant coaches, Paul Wade and Brian Beaubien.  Both left DCA to become successful head coaches in their own rights only to return to DCA.  Obviously to work with Coach Goodwin again.

100% agree, but seems like the Administration listens to "Juicy J"Cary. Could make for the next great Netflix Sports Documentary...:popcorneater:

True.   But talked to him the other day, and he’s been tied up with personal matter and work.   He has a really great job and didnt say anything about the situation at DCA.   In fact, everytime I have asked, he has answered “No Clue” out of respect to the administration and candidates that are some of his friends from school that go way back.

Three simple sentences.

Not one misleading or indirect thought.

Best post in months regarding hires for athletics.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
