Just for a convo piece here to go alongside whatever potential coach news there might be:

What is Bolivar returning next year? Last years Senior QB looked fantastic at the All-Star game surrounded by good talent on offense. Heard about him all year & glad I got to see him play. Who will be his successor? Is Bolivar a young team that just needs the right spark from a new coach? Going to be Senior heavy? What will a new coach be walking in to?

From what I remember when we played them this season, they had a large senior class. The QB was as good as advertised but in the JV game against SS the backup threw 3 or 4 interceptions.  In JV this past season we beat them 28-8 with what I would imagine would be a lot of their starters for this next season. I think Bolivar is going to be in for a very tough year, they have some talent in the younger classes for sure, but will they be able to put it together, keep it together is the problem.

Bolivar Tigers better find a good coach soon or they will get mercy ruled a lot of times in the 2024 season. It will happen. I guarantee it. Watch and see. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

A coach can do a lot of things, but they can't play the game. Got to mix that coach with some decent talent to avoid those mercy rules. Not saying Bolivar doesn't have any, they have plenty of talent walking around that school building, but have to convince them to play football!

I have heard through the rumor mill or grapevine, which ever one you would like to say is less accurate lol, that Bolivar has their eye on  Scotts Hill's old coach. Rumor is again, that since Mcnairy 'fumbled' on not giving him a chance to even interview, that Bolivar will try and scoop up the loose ball and go score touchdowns on MC. This could be an interesting scenario play out!

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
