Now that the Overton job is officially open, who goes there?

Hopefully someone who can coach and will make a commitment to Overton. Hope Overton will get it right this time and learn from past hires. Not an easy job now.

It is shame the quality of coaches in metro with a couple of exceptions. It is sad the number of assistants also in the building. Looks like most head coaches have their buddies helping who can't even be there everyday. Friday night sidelines are full of coaches.

Why did AB leave for Antioch

Chasing the talent. Antioch has a very good QB, maybe as good as anyone. Started as a 9th grader. Without him Antioch would have been winless. Talent alone is winning most games in Metro.

I have noticed that a high percentage of MNPS coaches just roll the ball out and win on talent.  If some of those athletes were actually coached correctly they would be dangerous.

I have heard a very intriguing name has applied for this job. I am honestly shocked this person would even be interested with the experience he has. I will be the first to admit I was wrong about Overton having a hard time finding a veteran coach. Only question is, will Overton see this coach as the right fit?

Can’t say that because remember his name was in the hat when Antioch first came open but the principal didn’t hire him.

    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
