Overton HC

Recommended Posts

Fb247 you just like to hear yourself talk .

metro has had some really good coaches that can coach. It's amazing the kids are the reason they win but the coach is the reason they lose

No one says that when it's county or private schools , I wonder why . Yet metro beats some of those schools. The principal has the help get those coaches in the building .

No matter who gets Overton it will struggle , you harp on Broome but he gave them a winning season for the first time in about 5 years .

Tony Brunetti won state, Eddie woods went to state, Stewart took east , Harris took east ,Thompson took Maplewood ,Broome took Maplewood , Blade took Hillsboro Clayton took Hillsboro and so did Aydelot no other county has had that many multiple schools .

Alexander can't fix that and he would leave in 2 years as well

I never said metro does not have a few good coaches. It is obvious that the schools that have done well have had some of the best talent. Could they win at the schools where talent has not been as good? Broome is leaving because the talent is down and up at Antioch. You mentioned 5 schools that have done well, and 4 of the  schools that did well did  at a low classification. I do not Alexander , I just hope the next coach at Overton stay and develop a program and not leave because of talent. I have great respect for public school coaches in metro and Tennessee that coach for the kids and just not the wins. I do express my thoughts and do not intend to do anything other than encourage other comments.

Metro has had really good coaches, and really bad coaches. Yes kids get the credit when a team wins, and coaches take the heat when they lose. Always been this way I suppose. As for metro being the only county sending multiple schools to state......

Rutherford: Riverdale, Oakland, Smyrna

Williamson: Brentwood, Ravenwood, Indy, Summit

Only difference is these are schools that won, not just went. Come on now metro coaches deserve credit but don't act like they are the cream of the crop as a whole.

Sumner: Gallatin, Hendersonville, Beech, Portland, White House

Gwave...yep. I just named two counties but I did think about adding Sumner. Could have went even farther and included Shelby and Knox. Again metro has good coaches. Brunetti at PC has had a lot of success. East has had success with two different coaches, CR had one great year. But other coaches in other counties have had the same success.

Back to topic, hope Overton gets a good coach. The good ones in the past stuck around awhile. Coutras, Mullican, and Anderson were all there several years. The last several coaches did not stay long. Any chance an alum comes home?

Williams was an alum and stayed several years as well until he was rail-roaded by the happy day clown principal.

    • Why? Low pay. Low budget thanks to the Rotary milking the programs revenue. Foul smell. There are other negative things... Positives: the players and being toward the top of the classification numbers wise.
    • What we have here is an influx of outsiders raining down on the town of Maryville like a swarm of locust trying to change our culture into the same crap they moved away from. I have no issues with anyone coming here but don't bring your politics with you. Most people around here never pay attention to the elections and keep letting the same ole rats and vermin right back in the back door and wonder why things are like they are. The problem at Maryville High is mainly due to letting outsiders get a foothold on control and shove their agenda down everyone's throat. Anyone that leaves there or let's say ranoff are replaced with an outsider with the same mindset. Eventually Maryville High will never be the same as it once was which I'm beginning to believe already but it's only chance of survival are to recruit people that will get in there and reverse the damage that has already happened.
