I have been in the sports broadcasting industry for close to 25 years now. I have worked live events on tv, radio, and both video and audio streaming. I have broadcast middle school, high school, and college games including state championship broadcasts in two different states and in two different sports. I was also blessed to be part of a broadcast crew that worked the 1995 D2 men's basketball region tournament as well as the 1995 D2 Elite 8 men's national championship. One day I'm going to add up all the games I've broadcast and see where I stand. LOL

I can't believe I'm going to say this but Man o Millions is correct. Livestreams provide an outlet for out of town fans friends, family, and shut ins to be able to see a game that they would not normally get to take in. Watching a live stream will encourage a viewer to actually get out and see a team live down the line. In the beginning only radio brought us high school games. To gain reach radio stations started audio streaming when that became an option. Then came along live video streaming.  As many radio stations become part of a corporate entity, they dropped broadcasting high school sports. It's a national trend that is picking up steam.

My observation is that many of our livestream views are from people who attended the game live and want to relive the moment. I can look outside of my pressbox perch and see crowds have not decreased. Here in a couple of weeks I will be streaming a game that will be SRO. And that will be with THREE different companies streaming the game. Streaming equals decreased crowds and financial hardships. That is NOT the case from where I sit. Not at all. Those who resist are simply affraid. You have to take a leap of faith. You won't regret it.

Sorry for climbing on my soap box, but I am very passionate about this issue. Good luck to your team on Friday but much more importantly, GOD Bless!

Stan

Who would have thunk it? Reitz and I agree on something.

I have not been in a while. I am going to church Sunday!

Stan, your post was worded very well and on point. We at least share 1 passion. Also, I still hate the color purple.

Y’all don’t pick on my man @ManOfMillions. He and I have met and we get along just fine, especially since Covington and South Gibson have not been playing each other lately.

in fact, he and @stacmot are the only two posters on Coach T that I have met.

After 20 years on Coach T, you’re the only poster I’ve had the opportunity to meet.  I’ve always enjoyed reading your posts and discussing your thoughts concerning West Tennessee football (especially Covington/Haywood, the old Big Ten Conference, and Regions 7-3A and 7-4A).

Of course, I think I might know a few Haywood posters, but we’ve never identified ourselves to each other and I’ve never had any face-to-face discussions with them about any topics on the T.

There are a few other posters I’d like to meet, but MOM scares me.  He’s a porphyrophobiac you know?  Take it easy on me MOM!  You know it’s true.

I am not going to lie. I had to google the definition of a " porphyrophobiac ". I had no idea what it meant.

However, you are wrong. I am not a porphyrophobiac I just simply hate the color purple. I do NOT fear it. Purple looks good on nothing. Purple stinks and I hate it. Purple Tomcats, tigers, bulldogs.... Yall can all fold like a cheap suit.

Ya gotta add Chargers, ‘cause my Covington Chargers are proud in purple and gold. Then I went to Tenn Tech, and guess what? They are purple and Gold too.

Watched this game on the live stream. Covington thoroughly whipped Haywood up front on both sides of the ball. I was very surprised at the level of ease at which Covington ran the ball, which is represented by their roughly 7.5 yards per carry. Not sure there is a team that Covington will see until the final game that will force them to throw the ball. Haywood has the guys to slow it down and they couldn’t do it. It cannot be a good feeling for opposing defenses seeing 7 and 9 in the backfield and having no idea which one is going to get the ball on any given down. Both of those guys run extremely hard and are very hard to take down. Add that to the fact that they aren’t being touched until they are 3/4 yards across the line of scrimmage and you are in for a long night.

You better be able to score some points to hang in with Covington, cause they are going to score. I think they scored on every possession last night and there was never a point where I thought they wouldn’t score. The coach for Haywood realized this very early on as he was going for it on 4th down from his own 20 yard line in the first quarter of the game down 14-0. You don’t do that if you think you can get stops.

I was also very impressed with the level at which Covington held up on defense. I had heard a lot about their defense and while it did give up some points tonight, they played well upfront. The secondary is good enough to allow the front 7 to get home or to cause the QB to get off his spot.

He always go for it on 4 down he did it last season and it almost cost him the game he done it 3 times at his 30. 4th and 10 all times. He doesn't know how to make adjustments when the player tell him what going on it still doesn't matter to him because he just don't understand what to do next. Great win Covington.. but that's why a lot of people are trying to get him out and some of the player do won't to play for him. What coach practice only 45 min for game. Let me leave it alone
