It's not doom and gloom just yet. Most elizabethton knowledgeable football fans didn't have high hopes for this year's team and honestly I thought we over performed. Before we left 3a we gave Alcoa one of the best games they had played up till that point in the season. And that was with a team not anywhere near as good as our title teams. We might have rough years here and there but we will bounce back. Up until a couple years ago no one mentioned AC and title in the same sentence.

I would like to know your definition of over performing 🤔 you guys got blown out by Science Hill,Greeneville and Anderson County and should have probably lost to a little above average Fulton team. You guys got wins against mediocre opponents for the exception of Cherokee.

The three year run will be hard to match much less beat. I don’t know that anyone saw it coming before it happened. The two years before we did the standard go to AC in the second round and get demolished. We’ve fell back into that pattern. But a core group of players decided they had enough of that and started the morning lifts and putting in more work individually outside of practice. They demanded more from the staff. I believe that’s what it will take again. The question is do you have the players that will take charge and do it? I’m not close enough to the program anymore to know if they have that kind of leadership. Let’s hope so.

The county transfer kids have dried up at Elizabethton, some of the best athletes at the school are simply not playing, dark days ahead I am afraid, dark

Boone has had this happen way more times than I could count.     About 6 years ago there was a 6'5" guy who could run like a gazelle, great mobility and balance, long arms....     Played baseball instead.       I do not begrudge the kid at all, but  sure would like to have seen him at tight end

    • Lol  Why are you upset? Lol did I say anything bad about your son? I said the situation has been mishandled all year. All you wrestling daddies that get in here and get mad when your kid is mentioned on a public board is getting out of hand. Don’t get on here if you don’t want someone else’s opinion
    • Lol think about it as somebody adding 2-3 hours to your work day EVERY single day. There’s a reason multiple coaches turned this job down.
    • may be time for Chatterbox99 to give up on the cave paintin and carrier pigeons.... .....the news of his news gig broke couple moons ago Booger just sayin
    • Never underestimate a woman, Wompuscat, especially a Grandma.  I make a checklist daily, don’t you? The  photo you referenced was grabbed online from  a Standard Banner post, but my phone is full of videos and  photos from that same press conference. Sadly, I don’t know how to post them on Coach T directly from my phone. I don’t believe your friend Kevin was even in town that day, unless he really was was hiding behind the Lord  at the press conference. I heard he was hob nobbing with the governor that day.     As for Jay Lowery, my grandsons will vouch for his ability to teach high school boys calculus and make it taste good, without even adding sugar!    Who  agrees, that is a skill rarer than being a winning football coach?   Another Lakewsy home run!   Thanks for the meal suggestion, Wompuscat. Cornbread sounds good on a cold February day.  Think I’ll make some onion & potato soup to go along with it.  Still interested in knowing about “your” football programs that do things the right way.   I am currently in a learning mode, but for now  the kitchen calls.
