We have a thread on coaches on the hot seat, well what about those coaches whose names are going to be mentioned for the job openings. Who are those coaches that will be sought after as these jobs become open? Who are the HOT coaches out there?

I am from Middle / Eastern Tn here are a few names;

1) Chad Smith - South Doyle

2) Lyn Allen - Central

3) Kevin Bray - Cookeville

4) Doug Keil - Warren County

5) Kevin Thomas - Shelbyville

Johnny Jackson does a fine job with his team. I believe he is a first year coach at Cheatham County. He has his team well prepared, they play hard nosed defense and get to the loose balls with probably the smallest (sizewise) team around. Has a good courtside demeanor as well. Unless he has ties to the area, would look for him to be moving to a bigger program before long.

Until Lynn Allen learns that you have to play D to be competitve he can't be considered a coach on the rise. Central has a very nice offensive team but they play little if any defense and are usually out scored as a result.

I have seen O.R. play several times and there new coach is doing a good job.

Jeff Davis at Gibbs is doing a nice job with little if any talent.

Several J.V. and Freshman Coaches in Knoxville need to be considered for openings that may come up this year. The guys at Fulton and Bearden especially they have to have learned something coaching with the best two head coaches in Knoxville.

I think William Blount's coach is one of the best in his district-which is saying a lot. I've seen his players on numerous occasions respond and compete. I think that Randy Moore of Seymour is a very talented and committed coach. He took the boys team to the state tourny last year, and took the girls team this year. Hands down, he gets more out of his players' potential than any team I saw this year.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
