DISGRACE

There is no excuse for what Scooter Houston did tonight. He should be banned from wrestling next season.

The second stomach turning event occured when Houston returned to the floor (for whatever reason) and many rose to their feet and applauded.

I have a question for any of those clapping fools. What exactly were you clapping for?

For shoving the official?

For openly cursing?

For shoving Creagan?

For pushing an official?

For kicking a chair into the fans?

For slamming a $2000 clock into the spectators?

For being uncontrolable as he was led away by friends, family, coaches and teammates?

For assaulting a security guard.

For setting an overall pathetic example to any youth wrestlers in the stands.

By clapping, does that mean you approve of his actions? What the heck where you people thinking? It is hard to decide who wins the IDIOT AWARD; Scooter Houston or the clapping fans. It was sickening. Is that the conduct you expect from your son or a wrestler on a team you support?

FYI --- The call was made by Ken Mara who is the top official in Tennessee and one of the 10 best in the country.

I had to be clapping for that and all of the above. Without seeing that incredible display of raw anger I dont think I would have gotten my 6 dollars worth. I definitly approved of his actions. I think the IDIOT award would have to be a tie between you and the ref that ruined Scooter's chances of State. Scooter, you are my role model and I wish more wrestlers were as passionate as you. I will be attending tom. and hope to see the same actions from anyone who loses.

FYI--- Ken Mara is an embarassment to not only the wrestling community but his family and anyone who knows him. That was the worst call I have ever seen.

UltimateFan: Mara called a slam.

Toughest6: I agree with everything that you said except about banning Houston next year.

Shooter11: I disagree with everything that you said.

FYI:Mara DID make a bad call. REALLY BAD call at a REALLY BAD time.

By the way: Mr. Creagen, you didn't do anything to help the situation. I know that emotions were running extremely high, but it is important for all of us to act like adults.

Scooter: you wrestled a great match. Its unfortunate that barely anyone will remember what a great match it was...up until the last few seconds.

It's simple, the match was close in the remaining seconds of the 3rd period(10 sec. to be exact). 8-6 Creagan. Houston gets a double-leg takedown and Mara calls an illegal slam. Would've tied the score up. But instead the score was 9-6 Creagan wins. At the conclusion of the match, Houston shoves Creagan. Mara gives the sign for the ejection. Houston then shoves Mara. He then proceeds to go over to Logsdon and tries to kick him. Houston then kicks the clock over. He is then escorted out. He had the crowd on his side until he made himself look like a fool. He then returns moments later and begins cursing again. As far as what happened on the concourse area, Houston supposedly punched a security guard which in turns is one of the Red Bank wrestler's mother. And come to find out (I don't know if true or not)that the security guard and Houston are related somehow. Anyways, the Red Bank wrestler see's this and then goes after Houston, but was successfully restrained by several people. This to me, is really a shame. Yes, emotions in wrestling are very high but not to the point that I'm going to disgrace myself, my family, my coaches, and my school. He should've handled the situation a lot better than the way he reacted. Houston if he is truly a real "Champion" should have just walked away. That would've been the most courageous thing that he could have done. And that would have made him a true "Champion"...L8er!!!

It says on the TSSAA website that Dusty Griffin from Wilson Central was also ejected for flagrant misconduct. Does anybody know what he did? I think it's a shame because Dusty is a really good wrestler and his style has even been compared to Matt Sweeton.

I agree the call was iffy at least as far as I was concerned, but the two officals were on the mat and Ken Mara is one of the best officals in the country so who am I to question his call. Houston did return to the arena and apologized to the Bradley fans and thats when the stood and applauded him. They applauded because he had the guts to come back in to say he was sorry for how he acted.

i also am not an official and cannot give a professional opinion, but i think that it was a bad call. in the newspaper the ref is quoted as saying that scooter lifted creagan over his head and brought him down with force. i was seated in fron of the front row only a few feet from the mat with a perfect angle on the takedown, and that is not what i saw. scooter had him at chest/shoulder level and just dropped him flat on his belly. creagan's hands were in front to catch the fall. there was no chance of injury. i booed right along with what seemed like a majority of the arena over the call. i really wish that we could have seen an overtime for the match.

that said, i am not at all supporting what scooter did afterwards. his diplay was not only a disgrace, it bordered on criminal.
