Centennial loses heartbreaker

My brother said he went to the Centennial vs Brentwood game. He called wanting to know the Maryville score. He told me that Centennial blew it.

He said that Centennial had the ball with 25 seconds leading 23-22,Brentwood had no time outs left,Ball is on Centennials 25yd line,All Centennial had to do was kneel down and run out the clock. Centennial QB hands the ball off to the tailback and he fumbles. Brentwood recovers the fumble and kicks the game winning field goal!

What a terrible way to lose a game. I was hoping that Centennial could beat Brentwood and Franklin.

He never said nothing about whether the guy was down or not.But. They should have snap the ball and have the quarterback take a knee.It was stupid to run a play.

My brother said the Centennial students were ready to rush the field after the game. Centennial fans thought they had their 1st win over Brentwood. I hated that for Centennial. My brother said Centennial has a lot of talent.

Let me now say this... I don't care if the kid had been down for 15 seconds he should have never had the ball! After reading the article in the Tennessean; well, I'm not one to talk negatively about coaches. This is TEXTBOOK! YOU TAKE A KNEE! If CHS doesn't turn their season around after this (let's hope they do) then I say get Gregory out of there! That's all you have to do is just snap, knee, and say way to go. But noooo. I can't believe it. This has to be one of the biggest blunders ever. I hate to be so critical, but...

i play for brentwood and i would just like to say what a game, hats off to centennial good football team and i wish them the best of luck, in all honesty, if we made our 2 pat's and they made the one they missed it should have went to overtime, that wishbone stuff is real tricky, easy to get confused and centennial executes it so well, i know everyone will say we got lucky and centennial should have won but every team gets a lil luck sometime and we jus happened to get it at the right time, the game was pretty much even if we scored they answered right back and if they scored we answered, all in all great game and centennial is a team to be reckoned with

Before we get on coach bashing, a gamble is a gamble. There were 40 seconds left so a knee would have meant they had to scramble ten seconds off which was not possible as deep as they were in the endzone, or risk a punt exchange from a young set of kids that had been shaky. Or take a shot with the best group you've got (Oline) and see if they can get you the first. Everything is a gamble. Just have to pick your poison.

i was one of the fans that jumped on the track but we got a false start penalty then gained one or two yards. i think it was 3rd and 9 with 45 seconds to go.. i couldnt see the field becuase i was behind the football team but that was the impression i got.. hard fought game cougars.. we had them...
