Jefferson Co. vs. William Blount

Rip 7 what is your deal.  Even a girl can tell that Gov Man is one of the most gracious posters on here.

 

If he weren't married...I would consider dating him!

 

You my friend seem to be blinded by the Patriots as much as you accuse him of being blinded by the Govs.

 

Believe me, Blount County is the place to be!  I want to remind you...Maryville and Alcoa are in Blount County.

 

You all do have the Dandridge Seafood House and Douglas Lake though!  Cowboys might be in Jeff County too, maybe it is Sevier though.

 

Speaking of Alcoa...Scott Meadows was there wasn't he?  State Championship?  Yes I believe he was...however, no matter the outcome of tonights contest...the winner will not be the state champions this year!  What's your bet on that?

 

So what we are really talking about is...close but no cigar!  Jeff County ain't there yet.  Scooter and JJ will be watching in December just like Walker.  I'd be willing to bet Walker is the better student and gets to class faster than those two.

 

I heard Walker's time to class is 1.26.  I bet Scooter and JJ just barely get there on time.

 

One other thing...Maryville has won 3 state championships in a row...a Jeff County boy had to come to "Blount County" to win them though.  If Jeff County was/is going to be so good...why didn't he just stay there?

 

The glory days for Jeff County football left with the Collins', George Quarles and Kip Jones!

Yes, Cowboys is in Jefferson County.

 

I think if Jefferson County keeps up their jugernant offense and their stingy defense then they would make a run at state, but let's not get into that.. it's still too early.

 

To say that Walker is a better student that Jeff and Scoot is gettin a little personal... i know the getting to class thing was a joke.. but ya know... that's kinda shady. Anyways Jeff is a very good student... he's getting into Vandy as a football player and for Academics.

 

He left along time ago when the head coach at Jefferson County had been there for a long time and wasn't retiring soon. He got the coaching position at Maryville and who wouldn't take it for a head coaching job rather than assitant and more money. Now that he has the powerhouse at Maryville he probably won't leave... I wouldn't either.

 

The Glory is back with Scooter Houston, Jeff Jennings, Tyler Brown, and Parker Clement and the rest of the team which is as equally important as these 4 players.

Susie taking smack this is great, you guys( and girls) are finally coming around.

Back to the game though, if WB can survive the first half not getting blown out they have a good shot to get up on Jeff Co (if they survive). Almost every game this year we have come out flat after halftime. We need to step it up in the playoffs and play all 4 quarters, or we will be going home later on.

In all honesty, I do not see it as being a match up of two great teams. I see it as one great team loaded with a bunch of great athletes and one team still trying to build a tradition, starting a lot of sophomores and juniors that has been known to show up and play with a lot of heart.

 

It could very easily get ugly real fast if Jeff County comes out focused and executing and immediately overwhelms a nervous, shaky Blount team. If ... BIG IF ... Blount could somehow manage to keep it close into the fourth quarter, you don't ever know.

 

Blount has a fast, strong, elusive tailback. A very dangerous return specialist. A senior qb (who's struggled this year) that's capable of putting up some numbers--who also runs well. And a senior defensive end that can cause some problems for any team. They HAVE NOT established a dependable, capable receiving threat ... although they have a couple of guys who have shown signs of breaking out. They've struggled in their kicking game (although latest kicker has now connected on his last 6 or 7 consecutive pat's) and they are absolutely no threat to kick it off into the endzone, which creates problems if Jeff County has Houston or somebody else like that returning kicks. We end up having to squib it and letting teams start out at the 35 or 40.

 

Overall, I fear it is lack of depth that will kill us. We might have a handful of players with comparable talent to Jeff County's entire starting line-ups.

 

It's getting close to "go time" but one more question ... I know Jeff County is a wing t team ... are they equally capable of defending the wing t? I'm sure they are because they practice against it everyday.

Jeff Co has played several teams that run the Wing-t as far as I know we have beaten every team that has run the Wing-t against us,as far as defending our own Wing-T we only defend it in pratice we play a team that runs the Wing-t.

Govman, I do not know if you have ever payed any attention to high school athletes for four years. I have and the one thing I have learned is that some get faster but most do not. You can never predict the future and whether or not a kid will get faster. And as far as explaining words to me, I have this feeling after listening to you talk that I am not only more educated than you, I am a whole lot smarter. Yes Jefferson County can also defend very well against the Wing T b/c coach Meadows has a very thorough knowledge of how it works. For example... the first round the playoffs last year against McMinn Co.

#1. You have never heard anyone on here "talk" you have merely read what they typed. I could be a deaf mute with 1 leg and a haggard dental structure. You never know.

 

#2. I have known plenty of people that most considered "educated" and they have been some of the most unintelligent people I have ever met. The letters before or after your name mean about as much as teets on a boar hog.

 

The only title I am concerned with is the Jr. on the end of Jeff Jennings' name. Because, tonite him and the rest of the boys get it done, well done.
