Region 3-4A will take on a different look. It has been stated several times that Maryville will go to 5A. I think that is a good move for them. Carter will drop to 3A, which is where they should be. But in Carter's case, if Anderson Co. and Fulton stay in 3A, then Carter would have to compete with AE, AC, Fulton and Rockwood. That's tough!! My guess is that South-Doyle and Lenior City would move into 4A. South-Doyle has been horrible, but with a new coach and the potential that is walking around the halls of the school, they could be on the rise. Lenior City is getting better, but it will be hard for them in 4A. Central and Powell would be the powers in that alignment. What could be the kicker to all this is if Fulton and/or Anderson Co. move to 4A. You could have a 8 team region, but I think 9 would be too many.

Should be interesting.

I had these Knoxville area schools in 4A:

Class 4A Football

Anderson Co.964

Halls 1063

Lenoir City 1110

Clinton 1119

Powell 1120

Knoxville Central 1260

South Doyle 1277

West 1339

Maryville 1351

Maryville was tied for the largest in 4A, the way I had it, so it wouldn't take much for my numbers to be off for them to be 5A. Fulton was the largest 3A in my math at 956 so they could easily actually be 4A.

That scenario looks pretty likely. I've had a couple of ADs from current 3-4A schools tell me that Maryville will likely go up, but I haven't hread that from anybody at Maryville.

There are 8, potentially 9, class 4A schools on that list. The current region 3-4A has 7 teams. I wonder what the number will be after reclassification?

Here are the teams I had falling in 1A, before any movement of Division I privates into Division II. I went ahead and added Grace and Temple. being a fan of Chattanooga area teams, maybe I shouldn't have and they might not affect the totals yet. The private schools have their actual number first then the x1.8 total. There were a couple of new schools in this group I didn't know much about but I thought I had read on here they would automatically be Division II because of aid. so I didn't include them in this group. Any movement into Division by any of these may or may not add teams at the top end. And my math may not be totally accurate so any of the top three or four might actually be 2A before any other movement. Trousdale falls into 1A, but I really can't see them staying at this level due to the lack of overall competition that they would be facing (no offense to any of their opponents, but 2A or 3A would be better for them, they have proven they can play up).

Here's what I had for 2A. Alcoa and Huntingdon remained 2A in my numbers. Some seemed to try to scare the small schools into thinking those 2 would be 1A but at least in my list they are 2A. I would not be surprised to see teams moving up into 3A from this group, with the Nashville private schools, CAK, Boyd-Buchanan and USJ moved into it. The thing is, not everyone could move up or there would be maybe 100 3A schools and 15 in 2A.

Here is what I had for 3A. Grundy County didn't miss the cutoff by much, I would guess they would rather be in a region with Marion, Bledsoe, Sequatchie than in the 3A with far-off opponents, maybe if some teams move into Division II they can fall down. I had Goodpasture barely make it into 3A at the low end and Lipscomb barely avoid a jump to 4A. That probably means there is no avoiding successful private schools for midstate teams in 2A and 3A in the regular season, and no avoiding them for Chattanooga area schools in the first three rounds of the playoffs. Either Goodpasture and Lipscomb in 3A or a team like CPA or DCA in 2A.

Here is what I had in 4A. Brainerd would probably be better off in 3A and would have a natural rival in Howard plus East Ridge just a few miles away. I would guess they would drop if any Division I privates go to Division II. Maryville is the largest, but there's no telling yet if they would stay or move into 5A.

Here are the rest, 5A. It was really something how Oakland just missed the cut for 4A, I can't speak for them of course but guessing they'd move into 5A should they actually have 4A enrollment. I thought Walker Valley would have more and possibly be 5A, a principal or someone from their school said in the Chattanooga paper a couple of months ago they had about 1200 in three grades but this says 1150 or so and the numbers are all supposed to be adjusted for four grades on the new schools. At least they will be AAA for other sports now, where they should have been this past season.
