What does people think,  Swain is a real good team this year, already beat Morristown West and all the people is NC seems to think this will be no contest. Predictions are 50 to 7 and stuff like that. I think some people are in for a big suprise. Should be a great game. GO GET UM CPA AND GOOD LUCK.

Even though it has been correctly pointed out that CPA is playing Murphy and not Swain (and CPA beat Murphy last year 21-12 at Murphy), if Riverdale can't beat CPA 50-7, the Swain Whoevers are not going to beat CPA 50-7, even if Swain were to play CPA. Sight unseen, I'd say CPA wins outright in such a matchup. CPA is good, and Swain isn't Independence (NC).

pujo, do you have any links for the smack talk by the NC fans? To clarify, is it the Murphy fans making the 50-7 claims? If so, do they realize that they are going on the road to a CPA team that is probably better than last year?

I live in a foggy haze most of the time already without the aid of Pujo's drinks. I think I will pass on this one.

On looking at Murphy's schedule, they have played North Carolina 3A teams so far. Though they are 1A, the NC system incorporates our 1A and 2A into one and if memory serves me well (very questionable) they have a student body of around 500. It was good game last year and I hope the same is true this Friday Night.

Guys and gals, the folks from Murphy are down a bit this season but don’t over look’em they have been known to play well in big games.

As for the people making claims of a 50-7 win for the Dogs of Murphy, well it’s not the Murphy fans but others from WNC so don’t take it out on them too much. I’m pickin’ the dogs in an upset by one point. That’s not what I’d call an overwhelming vote of confidence but you know how it goes, stick with your own and hope for the best! ; )

Now for Swain, this team is loaded and is getting’ ready to play the second 3A school in a row this week. Last week Swain rolled up a 35-0 win over 3A rivals Smoky Mountain at their house.

Next week Swain had 4A power Reynolds of Asheville schedule up but a conflict in their BS schedule allowed some questionable dealings and they bought out the contract. GRRRRR…

The following week Swain will travel 4 hours down the road to play Watauga another 4A school. And out of all of these games NONE were as big as defeating Morristown West in Bryson City. And the Maroon Devils are favored in every game left for the 1A SMC conference games of which Murphy is the biggest rival.

I’m not getting into a pissin’ contest on who would beat who for it doesn’t’ matter since neither CPA or Swain has a chance of meeting this year. But I’m not saying I’d bet against my beloved Devils either.

Best of luck and if you thought Murphy has a nice facility then you would be shocked at what we have here in Swain! Top of the line that puts Murphy to shame and I’m not joking just ask any of the Motown fans that made the trip to Bryson City.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
