Also, Ed Too Tall Jones attended Merry High School where he was a basketball star before being an long time All Pro Definsive lineman for the Dallas Cowboys.

Elliot carson from Lebanon played in NFL Europe then made the roster for the cardnials and had a short stint with the titans. i have no idea where he's playing now.

Merry High was in Jackson, TN. Is now Jackson Central Merry (JCM). (There was then Jackson High and Merry High).

 

Ed played basketball in HS in Jackson. Went on to play football at Tennessee State. was the #1 draft pick in 1974 by the Dallas Cowboys.

Oak Ridge has one, I think... Mike Caldwell plays linebacker for either the Bears or Eagles... can't remember. Heck, maybe someday Coalfield will have somebody make it to the pros. Coach Kries played ball briefly for the 49ers, but he went to O.S.

Too Tall actually went to Murray State on a basketball scholarship for a few days before his uncle took him to TSU to play football.

 

South Fulton - Tab Vowell played in Germany for a season and Anthony Hutch is still playing in the arena football league.

Wow, this his been a GREAT thread. I have only lived in TN for four years, so most of these lists are all new to me. Didn't realize it was such a long list.

 

One I can think of that I did know, however, is OL Harry Galbreath. He played for Clarksville HS, UT, and then several years with the Dolphins and finished with Green Bay.

Another that I can think of was Jermaine Copeland from Harriman. He played at UT and then went to CFL for a while. Last I heard was trying to play for the Cowboys.

I heard but can't confirm that he led the CFL in recieving last year.

I don't think he did last season, but he did the two seasons before that.
