Just got back to Bristol from the Game. Well.. we had the look of a deer stuck in headlights tonight...just flat choked that all I can say. Maryville is a great team without a doubt and I hope you guys win it all. But believe me when I say we are capable of much better than tonights performance.

But as the old saying goes it is what it is..mabye we will see you guys next year ..good luck in the boro. thumb

Maryville[/url'>Rebels' date='Nov 26 2004 - 09:31 PM']Everyone looks big, fast, and well disciplined in warm-ups, its a routine they go through every game, by now they should have it down.  The only sport that warm ups seem to matter in are basketball.  You can tell a lot about a team in a shoot around.

Not really. People who have played and coached football understand what it takes to have a good football team. You can tell a lot about a team in warm ups. For example, William Blount has great athletes that look very impressive. But when you see them warm up, you realize that they have average coaches. Result...William Blount goes 3-7. THS is well coached. It was very evident in warm ups. They had terrible team speed and had not faced a good team all year. Result...MHS wins big.

Congrats Rebels. Very well done. Good luck next week, not that you'll need any. thumb

And congrats to the Mighty Vikings. 13-1 aint to bad. Nothing to be ashamed about. Y'all made a lot of people, including myself, football crazy this year in Bristol. Cant wait until next year. thumb

Their guys looked big, fast, and well disciplined.  I thought that maybe the hype about THS was true.  But after the first drive, I knew it was all hype.

I was watching their special teams warm up and it was immediately evident that they couldn't punt the ball more than 35 yards without a roll and kicking a field goal would be out of the question. THS does have some good players and they almost hurt us in the 2nd quarter with the misdirection trap and draw; however, we corrected quickly.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
