No it won't make you win games, but it certainly sets the tone for the game! Ever seen the home records of the teams that have been talked about on this thread? They all have incredible records on their own turf. It pumps up your fans and more importantly your players. It also demoralizes the visiting teams, if they are nervous already about being there. I forgot to add that Oak Ridge also has the smoke machine on the stair walk if I remember correctly.

It certainly does get you pumped up before the game and just makes the whole atmosphere better. I learned that most of the time you'll play better in a more fun atmoshphere than in a boring game.

Those who do not take care of the smaller details, including team spirit and moral are the least prepared to win. These are usually the ones that let everyone down on 4th and goal from the one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like how Riverdale has an Indian on a horse come riding out and throw a spear into the ground just like FSU.

 

I hear Oak Ridge comes out in a cool way.

 

When I played at Blackman, the whole student section would form a tunnel and we'd run out between them.  It was the coolest thing slapping hads with all the students and other fans who came down there to support us.

Prior to us playing at Oak Ridge, I heard a lot about the players coming down through the stands....it sounded a lot cooler than it was in person. It's still very unique, but it's not the best. DB was pretty cool how they walk down to the endzone to meet the band, and then sprint back towards the 50. But again, it was way overhyped prior to the game on these boards. Entrances are cool, but I haven't seen any spectacular ones around.

Oak Ridge and the fans on both sides. That railroad crossing sign ringing with the smoke. Scary. The best pregame hype I seen was when I had just returned to Tennessee from college and went to the oak Ridge and Jefferson County game in 1985. Oak Ridge had 100 players coming down those stairs but Jeff county had 100 coming down a hill of ivy. it was a precursor to one of the greatest games in tennessee history.

Hey muffin....what really matters is that some schools have some sort of tradition that separates them from other schools, or they are trying to do something to promote a community interest in the school or team. Everyone knows that support can be hard to come by.

 

Here`s a question for you muffin. Why don`t you get a Plus membership?

 

You have almost 5,000 posts here on coacht. That`s many hours you have spent here on this website. I think that's how he got to 5,000+ posts, two word sentences can be typed really quickly. Sequatchie County has had a horse/Indian enter the field in some big games, only problem it seems like the horse isn't too cooperative usually. Another time the "Indian" threw a spear that was flaming to the ground and caught the field on fire for a second, a cheerleader stomped it out. Good ideas, execution wasn't always there though.

Riverdale's is pretty intimidating with the indian on a horse and throwing the spear....def makes you feel like you are at the U of R
