Best Teams in Class AA

Elizabethton, Gatlinburg Pittman, McMinn C, Upperman, East Nash, CPA, Westview, Haywood

I've seen both CPA and East Nashville

CPA has a very good sophomore SG Kendeni Hambrick can score from all over the place. She probably averages around 20. They have a PG that committed to Shorter University and a really good post player. They're solid and well coached.

East Nashville is 23-2 with a loss to Riverdale and have 3 guards with D1 offers so they are really good as well.

These  are the 8 teams I predict will be in Murphy Center in no particular order.....of course not necessarily the best 8 teams in the state given how the state tournament field is paired down (Dis., Regions, Sub-State).

Elizabethton

Gatlinburg-Pittman

McMinn Central

Upperman

East Nashville

CPA

Westview

Craigmont

some dark horses candidates that could make it there.......

Grainger

Westmoreland

Lewis Co.

Lexington

Haywood

Covington

If Upperman does their job, you should see them and McMinn Central at state from Regions 3 and 4. I imagine the only hiccup to that would be if Livingston happens to beat Upperman in the region 4 championship sending Upperman to Englewood for substate. I believe that exact thing happened about 6-7 years ago (2nd seeded Livingston beat 1st seed Upperman). Central won that game in a classic. I would much rather see Upperman vs. McMinn Central at state, but if it happens at the Round House, it is sure to be barnburner. My prediction for those regions at least is that Upperman and Central both make it.

My dark horse candidate would be Livingston though. If they upset Upperman, they shouldn't have a problem with the 2nd place finisher in Region 3. That's just the truth.

If Lexington is a dark horse then South Side definitely should be as well.

    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
