Congrats to Chris on coming home. We graduated the same year and played against each other. He was as good as they come back then but always a class act after the game. I haven't talked to him in years and I think the last time was at a Marion basketball game I was covering. He was still as friendly as ever then. Now....if someone down in Pirate land doesn't create a hype video to start the season featuring Chris and having Back in Black playing in the background us old 80s guys are going to be sorely disappointed.

Tennessee was well represented this past weekend at the AAU national duals tournament. The middle school and 9/10th grade team brought home 2nd place overall and the 11/12th grade team brought home 5th place. I will never understand fans running down their teams and coaches. What the heck does it do? Oak Ridge Football picked up four or so loses early in the season and I stuck by them. The team ended up making it to the Gold Game. Pick a team and stay true to them.

I am curious as well. LC drops 3 in a row to UC Crockett and Tillman. UC has a head scratcher of a loss to Bradford? Still early but I still think LC UC Gibson and Trenton are the best from the west! Baseball is down in every level. Technology I guess? Lots of smaller communities are just not having league ball due to participation! Sad They say travel ball killed league ball and I don’t buy that! I got 2 girls and an 8 yr old playing travel and league! We may play or practice every night but it sure beats watching them play some video game! I blame parents! Rant over thanks for some baseball input though

On Facebook, it was said Jackie found time to talk to everybody in high school. His accomplishments never went to his head. Agree. Both Anderson County and Elizabethton are great teams! Just goes to show there is sissy adult politics involved. WB and Heritage should be playing Maryville and Alcoa.

How does in benefit Kids at WB? Really?!,....you think the kids/players would shy away from playing Alcoa? NO, that's just a bunch of sissy adults that don't want to play a school 10 minutes away. Fact. It has forced both WB and Alcoa to travel hours away to get games. Alcoa has traveled to KY, middle TN. etc. because someone got butt hurt. AND, my feeling, It has Nothing to do with the Players! WB players have played against Alcoa and Maryville players in football well before that got to the Middle School and High School level. I can not speak for them, I bet they would play every year and not bat a eye! What good does do? Wow, What a question! Why play the game at all, if you don't know! Sad.

If you remember around 1999 and 2000 Maplewood was 0-20 or 1-19 there for a 2 year period and had no players. Less than 10 years later they were playing Maryville tooth and nail in the state finals (2007). I promise you it’s not a bleak as you initially think.
