Please explain more then. I don’t see any good way this would reflect on a coach when a player quit on his team with a big news article and a coach letting him back on the team after they made state (didn’t help get them there). As a former high school coach, there would have been no way I would have let him back on the team. The team and program is always bigger than a player

Dobyns-Bennett Indians, 2022 4A Basketball State Champions. I like the sound of that. Honestly didn't think I'd see them win a state championship in one of the big 3 sports in my lifetime. Can't say they lucked into it either. Beat 3 very good teams to get it. Great job by the players and especially the coach. Turns out that "national search" was a good ideal. I am now convinced they got the best guy. Buck Van Huss was the best high school basketball coach that ever lived in my opinion. And he couldn't win a state championship at DB.

So Stone was the 2nd best team in the state in AAA. That’s the biggest shock of the season.

It was hard playing for Coach Thompson and having Dillard still at the school telling you different from what ur head coach was teaching. Coach Dillard had alot of talent on those teams 97-99 that he didnt develop. He picked two guys (Long and Dickerson) and focused on them and neglected the other players that were talented.

I agree. Even the great Nick Saban says things are different now. Kids make mistakes. Sounds like the coach might have gained some respect by letting him go and they all came together even the guy they let go and he was let back on the team. JMO. Lots of kids and even adults find out that life will and can go on without them and sometimes they realize that they weren’t bigger than a program or a company.

Should be a fun game tomorrow.

Congrats Peabody. Hopefully 2 gold balls come back to Gibson Co tomorrow.

If so, coach missed a good opportunity to get some credibility back...no way I betray my team by allowing a kid and/or his dad decide whether they are a member of my basketball team after bailing on them at a critical time. Team pulled together without him and got to Murfreesboro on their own accord, then he wants back in the spotlight...nope!
