  1. Rolling down to Park Avenue just to get beat by 30 again? We've all seen this story before.

  3. Too many coaches (not the head football coach) at 825 want kids to specialize. From where I have sat over the last 15 yrs, the specialization is not helping any of sports on the hill. IMO that is more of an Athletic Director issue to resolve. Just like any school, if you are not getting your best players on the team, then you have a better chance at mediocrity than excellence.

  4. Biggest problem we have at Maryville is a progressive type principal I'm scared that might not realize the importance of the football program or any sport matter of a fact. She ran off a winning girls basketball coach who was very popular with the fans over some little Flossi Mae on the basketball team and her dear parents Karen and Ken. She sided with Karen and Ken and now the girls basketball program sucks and the basketball coach was also over the football broadcast which also went to pot last year for most of the season until we wore her out over it and now the radio broadcast combined with the TV footage. She killed two birds with one stone on that throw but also cancelled the kids night to wear all black shirts on Alcoa Night which was called Black Out which she claimed that may be racist. Two years ago the towns "Crazy Lady ' who is in most people's opiniom a certifiable nut case led a group trying to change the Red Rebel name which has died down now but I can see those two being birds of a feather and wish they would send her down the road before that all gets fired up again. I graduated from Maryville and feel I have every right to display my concerns how pizzed off I am over this type leadership. Many older football fans of Maryville that can't go to the games any longer paid NFHS to see the games they couldn't go to anymore at home only to see nothing most of the time or something only the Three Stooges could have put together.

  5. Both teams looked as expected. #4 looks like he will be y’all’s QB. He controlled the offense better than the other guys. Whoever the Clarence kid is he’s a WOLF. Kinda reminds me of fatcat just a tad bit slower “. Something we did notice early y’all seemed a little smaller than normal. Idk how many kids y’all had missing but that’s the take away. PC needs to get our guard positions solidified with the twins graduating. It’s was times y’all got back there but our QB did a good job getting the ball out. We didn’t have no starting skills but the back up guys did their thing. #18 for us is in a bright spot going into the summer. Our freshmen RB has improved.

  8. I would agree. I am thinking two is a possibility. All of the pitching staffs are fairly deep with talent. Bradford has four solid pitchers. Peabody has six or seven solid arms (insane for a class A team to be that deep with pitching). Milan has four to five and South Gibson has a ton of arms that are pretty solid. Good Luck to all teams there.

  9. The fact Union City is back in 1A is embarrassing for TSSAA . Once Mckenzie leaves 1A in two years , they’ll move Huntingdon back down . They just play musical chairs with the enrollment numbers of Peabody/Union City -Huntingdon / Mckenzie year in year out . Everyone in the state will tell you they aren’t 1A teams . I’m sure the same is true all parts of the state but man do they hate smaller schools .

  10. My understanding is that Lawson/Metro already had purchased the irrigation system for natural grass before the word came out that new field turf was in the works. They will be the last school to get the new turf from what i am being told.

  11. Couple points worth mentioning. "Two players are facing criminal prosecution" and "several student's recorded the incident" 1) There is likely enough evidence via affidavit's by witnesses or Video recording to criminally prosecute otherwise it would just be an ongoing investigation. If there is a group of players standing around taping this kind of incident there is a culture issue. I noted last year that Hendersonville used the men's bathroom at Blackman as a makeshift locker room which was not an issue but post scrimmage the restroom was completely destroyed. Many of the parents were upset because they clean the restrooms and it was not like that before the game. I reached out to the HC in a non-accusatory manner and told him about the situation. I said it would be worth a reminder to always show respect for the field and facilities because you represent a school and perception could be misconstrued as reality." I was told our restroom was disgusting and then dismissed. ... Again culture.
