  1. Good choice! lol but to be honest, the Gym area was renovated recently and the air system was repaired. It used to be either on or off with no thermostat control.... we were used to the heat!
  2. Since us Charger folks don't have the pristene stadiums that you Wildcats and Pirates do...we just decided to offer a "Petting Zoo" to our worthy visitors!!
  3. And Warhorse, if you are out there...I would still love to do my Meigs week Speech!! Good luck tonight and whip some Tigers!
  4. Just my humble opinion...they have a little size and some speed this year and more importantly, they have the best staff they have had up there in years. Getting the kids to believe after some down years is huge...as you have witnessed first hand...and their kids are starting to believe in themselves. I am waiting on the outcome of the Sweetwater - Polk game to get the proper read of what they really are this year. But as for now...4-0 against anybody ain't doing too bad!
  5. Patio in downtown Madisonville....I drive up from Etowah just to get the pizza! Baked spagetti is pretty special too!
  6. Dang B Buc..... We are gonna have to find you some Central Blue if you keep talking up the Chargers! Good luck to the Cherokees this week!
  7. Long time coach at Madisonville, Etowah and McMinn Central, Bob Lambert Sr, passed away at age 85 on Dec. 26. He began in 1955 at Madisonville and had probably the best team in Madisonville history. In 1958 he came to Etowah and was there until the consolidation that formed McMinn Central.
  8. I am getting tired of the cracks on Derrick and having no discipline...people have no idea what went on with those kids, I can promise you they were disciplined, I know because I was part of the staff. We just handled issues internally, folks just guess about stuff instead of getting the facts. Decisions were ALWAYS a staff decision, keeping Jackson was something we all soul searched before we agreed and he met all of the requirements to return to the team we set forth. Yes, he did get kicked off during the season, but again it was a staff decision. We tried to help some of those so called problem kids get a chance to get to the next level so they could leave the inviornment they lived in...some worked out but some didn't...I have no regrets about what we did because I know we did it for the right reasons. Coach Wilkerson was huge with those kids and was probably the toughest on the kids of any of us. Like him or not, just don't make accusations about stuff you don't know is a fact.
  9. Sorry, I entered the wrong score on the scoreboard, should have been Polk Co 10 McMinn Central 7. Sorry for confusion!
  10. Chargers sweep Polk for District title....Young kids kept improving all year. Good job Chargers!
  11. Even great players/teams/coaches choke from time to time. Take Peyton Manning for instance. He has choked in some of his playoff/championship games but is still one of the best QB's of all time. It just happens sometimes. It does not mean you are lousy or have some sort of character flaw. Personally, I find it hard to defend a strategy that didn't work. Sometimes you have to change or adjust your strategy as the game unfolds before it is too late. I am not sure you were there at the game...but I was. Basketball is a game of "runs" usually, and Central went on a run vs Westview of 30 to 6, I didn't feel Westview "choked" as you refer, Central just played flawless basketball. In the Championship game, Central went on a big run to get up by 19, I sure didn't see Gibson "choke" during that run. They did catch fire and went on a run of there own, hitting NBA threes and caught Central. The game ended as I felt the game would end, a less than 5 point difference between the two teams. I saw two teams leave it all on the floor with great effort and Both teams represented their schools and Districts with class, no choking, as you seem to feel. Gibson is a great team as is Central, which made for a fantastic Championship game.

  13. I didn't think they could "legally" charge for parking on a Public school property...I thought it had to be a Donation...
  14. I remember ThugDaddy's posts, but never knew who he was......is he no longer on here? Thug was Kirk...Thought you knew that.....
  15. Miss you ThugDaddy!! This was your time of the year...It won't be the same without you My Friend!.
  16. Congrats to the Lady Bears and Coach Tucker from you neighbors over in Etowah! Good luck in the Region and hope you make it to the Big Dance!!
  17. To the referees out there on this blog.... I have been a coach and was raised by a long time coach so I know several refs and officials personally. One of the traits of the good old school refs were they were more worried about being in the proper position to make the call than the proper mechanics or what was being said from the stands. I have never questioned a call IF the ref or official was hustling and in position, no matter if I thought different of the call. I assumed he saw what I did not... Now my problem with a lot of today's refs is the lack of hustle and making long distance calls overtop another official who was in position. I feel that the fans in the stands see the lack of effort and that is why some are very vocal during games. I am one who doesn't think the three officials in basketball has made it better, I see a lot more lazy efforts and missed calls than in the days of the two person teams. And by the way, I have had this discussion with several of my "Ref" friends and to the person, they agree.
  18. That is McMinn CENTRAL... McMinn Co. is a AAA school and usually not very good... just sayin'
  19. What a joke! How can you only pick 11 for an All State team?! And on top of that, there is two from a team that didn't go deep in the playoffs? Come on!!
  20. Good one Cyclone!! On a serious note, I have seen both teams play... If both teams bring their "A" game, the only way Betsy sees the State Championship game is they will have to buy a ticket!
  21. Having played against Alcoa a couple of weeks ago and after watching Loudon dismantle a very good Polk Co team last week, here is my prediction. Alcoa will see a much better team than they did earlier, Loudon will match up pretty good up front IF they come to play like against Polk. Skill player edge goes to Alcoa. F5 continues its run to Cookeville, but it won't be a blowout against a very tough Loudon squad.
  22. Pod 2 is definitely the toughest in the state... Favorite will come out of this bracket
  23. I think Polk will beat Loudon by 17 or more, but the Wildcats will lose by at least 17 against Alcoa. Smart guy that blitzinbuc. Jarred Allen is the difference maker in this game. Throws and runs better than the Loudon QB. He is one of those kind of players that makes everybody around him better. Then the Polk County Wildcats get their shot at surviving the F5.................................................... Not only am I smart, I'm also tall, slim, and handsome. Uuuuh.... I would have to check box E... none of the above!
