  1. Looks like being ranked #4 in 1A might be cursed now. First Freedom Prep, now Fayateville. So whoever slides into that spot...... Greenback???
  2. Not sure if they are going to find easier competition in facing Lake Co this coming season. This is a Lake Co team that has been to the state semi-finals the last 2 years in 1A with primarily underclassmen playing. What it is though is a return to a good rivalry.
  3. When you have a Mr. Football finalist in the backfield with you in the form of Desmon Johnson, is it that mind boggling? Snyder did have a breakout game against West Carroll early in the season and was a nice balance to Johnson's carries throughout the 2018 season.
  4. Of course if Desmon Johnson gets over 100 yards rushing, you may have to come up with another way to post on CoachT, since you did promise to retire from posting if he did that. I am sure an LC poster would be willing to be a "surrogate" for you in the event that happens.
  5. We'll make sure not to share water bottles with you!
  6. He is a senior. His backup Larry Tubbs is a junior who had a very nice breakaway run this past Friday.
  7. Then let me clarify....Tarzan chest thumping (the few posting) Huntingdon fans AND those ready to crown the blue and gold the "Kings of the West"....is that better? In all seriousness, the only ones who should be considered favorites is the champs at Greenback and Dawgs at Cornersville, mainly because both teams are returning nearly everyone and were the teams that made it last year. They should rightfully so be getting the respect that they deserve. Does this mean Huntingdon doesn't deserve any respect? No. Their body of work says they deserve it too, just not to the degree of handing over the keys to be the automatic contender coming out of the west. They, like LC and everyone else in regions 5-8 have a shot each Friday night. That's why I said don't crown anyone yet until they have played the game. Weird things happen in high school football, just like they do in college (unranked Purdue knocking off #2 Ohio State for example).
  8. Its just not in this thread. Its been all season by many different people. All I said is play the game before awarding them championship status. That's what happened last year prior to them getting beat by Cornersville.
  9. "I find a lot of things they do amusing. They need to check themselves sometimes. Let's just remember, pride comes before the fall". Mark Dantonio, Head Coach at Michigan State. With all the Tarzan chest thumping by Huntingdon fans, its best to take Coach Dantonio's advice. Last year most of you believed that the the road to Cookeville was paved with Mustang-logo blue and gold bricks. Cornersville ripped up those bricks. No one has said LC will beat Huntingdon. All we have heard is how bad Huntingdon will beat down everyone on their again repaved Mustang-logo blue and gold brick road. Just remember, play the game first before giving yourself the championship.
  10. I guess they are thinking like the Jackson Sun. If they (Lake Co.) are not in the "subscription" or in this case, the immediate viewing area, then they won't need to be covered.
  11. Apparently you completely missed what it says at the top before you looked at the brackets. It says "Updated based on standings following Friday's results."
  12. Having seen both play, Gleason gets the win. Coach Lampkins has it better right now than Coach Ballard. Given time, it might change for Humboldt, but this year is not the year.
  13. And for the Juniors, beat them 34-16.
  14. Lake County is heading up to Ballard County, KY to play tonight.
  15. If I recall, he was the middle school head coach at Humboldt last season.
  16. Jackson Sun article gives a little more info than Donovan Stewart posted. One of the factors cited was a lack of commitment during spring practice.
  17. According to the entry, this idea/amendment was made by staff at the TSSAA. Apparently, they think this a great idea, worthy of debate. Sorry, but I think its time to go back to the drawing board and come up with something that will enhance the sports in Tennessee, not hurt the athletes.
  18. Saw this on the legislative agenda for the TSSAA. Proposed Addition to Article III, Section 10 (Unsportsmanlike Conduct) of the TSSAA/TMSAA Bylaws: If a fan is ejected from an athletic contest, the school will be given a choice of removing the fan for a minimum of the next two contests or fined $500.00 and face further disciplinary action. If a fan is ejected from an athletic contest, and the fan is a relative of a student-athlete participating in the contest, the school will be given a choice of removing the student-athlete and the fan for a minimum of the next two contests or fined $500.00 and face further disciplinary action.Rationale:The TSSAA and its member schools believe strongly that the major purpose of athletics is to be a part of the total educational program. A major part of this purpose is to stress to coaches, players, officials, and fans the vital importance of sportsmanship. It is critical that everyone in each of these categories understand the major role model that they can be for others. Recognizing this principle, unsportsmanlike conduct on the part of these groups cannot be accepted. (Submitted by the TSSAA staff) I am all in favor of the first part, but the second stipulation of suspending a student-athlete for the conduct of a relative who has been ejected from a game does seem to go to far. What say you Coach T Nation?
  19. Impressive....though that's not as impressive as the fact that LC is starting 6 sophomores on offense and 5 sophomores and a freshman on defense. So you got what appears to be the makings of a good team next year, but what after that?
  20. Someone's Cinderella season will end Friday. Lake County wasn't supposed to be this far along this season. Most people in the county figured it would be next season. The reason behind that thought is that if you look at who started for LC vs Hillcrest this past Friday, on offense it was 1 senior, 4 juniors, and 6 sophomores. On defense it was 1 senior, 4 juniors, 5 sophomores, and 1 freshman. Needless to say, a lot of young guys who have stepped up to make it big time. I understand the "come-from-the-bottom" story of Cornersville, but the same can be said with LC. A once proud program that prior to Coach Puckett's arrival did not do a whole lot except be everyone's homecoming. Its going to be a great game, and with what LC has coming up, as it has been said, things could be going quite well for the team in LC.
  21. What LC1968 implied is that even the Falcons won, there were some truly baffling calls. Pass Interference was called on our tight end who was blocking a D-lineman on a roll out pass that resulted in a TD. His block is no different than pulling a guard to block for the QB in the same situation. A couple of times it took the white hat roughly 20-25 seconds to start the play clock, while the game clock was running, near the end of the first half. If he hadn't taken so much time (despite both teams ready to play), it would have possibly resulted in LC to have time to run a few plays before the half. That's what he was meaning.
  22. Wonder if Dezmon Johnson will play with a chip on his shoulder after the Mr. Football committee overlooked his 1,800+ yards (avg. over 10 yds/carry, according to the Jackson Sun) and left him out of the semi-finalist selection?
