  1. Pretty bold predictions coming in. However, this is the most overrated district in West Tennessee. Bolivar as a sleeper? Chester County is a bad team, McNairy is well....McNairy until they improve. Lexington is not the same from what I hear so who's left? South Side may struggle a little bit because they no longer have that dominant threat like they have had in the past. FW has that DJ kid but they also lost a couple. I will be absolutely surprised is Bolivar finishes lower than 3rd. 1. South Side 2. Fayette Ware 3. Bolivar 4. Lexington 5. McNairy Central 6. Chester County
  2. How is Dyersburg at 8 but they lost to a 2A Adamsville team pretty bad, but Fairview is undefeated and hasn't made the top 10? Yes I know, Region 7-3A is good, but still.
  3. Forgot about that, you're absolutely right. Just don't think Chester has what it takes to beat North Side. The Eagles program is kind of in a stalling motion.
  4. Wow! All Gibson County teams will travel for the first round of the playoffs.
  5. If Dyer County beats Lexington, the Choctaws are in the playoffs. Both teams would have 3 region losses, DC will have the tiebreaker. If that happens, Lexington would need Chester County beat North Side on next Friday. If that happens, North Side is eliminated. Overall, the Indians should have won Friday's game at Haywood. Their long snapper made awful snaps and it gave Haywood 7 points about 100 yards total of field advantage. It killed North Side to death, also, a costly roughing the punter in the 4th quarter burst their chances of coming back.
  6. DHS, a lot of people are claiming that Liberty is on the boarder line at 4A/5A. Not a solid 4A for sure...
  7. Jackson Madison-County School System closed Jackson Central-Merry (JCM) in May, leaving around 550-600 students having to find a new school to go. JMCSS also adjust a new school zone where all the students that live north of I-40 will go to Jackson North Side (wasn't the case last year). JCM is south of I-40 leaving the students having the option of going to Liberty or Jackson South Side. Liberty is located near the minor league stadium so they got the bulked of the JCM students, South Side got the rest. According to few of these new region projections, if Liberty moves up to 4A next year, they'll be one of the biggest 4A Schools in the state. Currently have 1,060 students. Had around 700-780 last school year.
  8. I see that and completely understand that. When you see a team starting to win football games, you look at their schedule and see who they are winning against, it is the human nature. I, personally, even do that. I think the problem with South Gibson is that they have a head coach that has probably already "peaked." It can't be the lack of talent they have, that's absurd. They had A. Reed, the Duncan kid that plays at Memphis, the Walden brothers, the running backs they have now, and I think some guy that plays at UTM, I believe. For a school that is in its 6th year I believe of full time varsity football, that's impressive. Great Support! Great School from what I hear. What else? A coach that can't win but is a good guy, is a pretty good coach. But a coach that can win and be a good guy, is a great coach. And there are guys out there that can win and be a great role model to his students. Which one does SGC want? Just throwing that out there. Jackson Christian and Trinity Christian both can be content by losing to South Gibson by like 5 points. The Hornets can't and shouldn't be content with beating JCS and TCA by 5 points. South Gibson has near 75 players on their football, TCA and JCS both have near 30. That's a huge difference in itself-alone. I'm just saying that there are good quality football teams that have got to be looking for non-region opponents to play next year. Schools such as the following: Crockett County, Dyer County, Camden, Haywood, North Side, Liberty, Lexington, Adamsville, Hardin County, and probably Union City. Again, since 2011, SGC has a .500 combine record in the regular, but no playoff wins.
  9. Have to respect your decision on being realistic and not picking your Bobcats to win. At least you're not one of these people that say "I'll pick the Bobcats in a big upset!" Or something that relates to that. Clearly the injuries to you guys at the beginning of the season hurt your chances of having a shot to beat Dyersburg, and even possibly making the playoffs.
  10. Slim possibility but you can not rule out Liberty and Hardin County moving up to 5A, both schools have near 1,070-1,115 in enrollments, which is right on that boarder line. Truth is, there will be a few schools that'll be upset and where they are placed at in the new region format. So the TSSAA can't please anybody and everybody. It'll hurt and destroy South Side and Obion Central. Two schools that can't find any talent, struggling for years now it seems like. Right now, South Side and Obion Central has 1 win (against South Side). If South Side wants to become 'relevant' again, then they need to fix their Administration issues and hire a coach with a good resume to show for, and not a coach has grew up in south of Jackson. But until then, it won't be until probably 2020 til we South Side become relevant again. Obion Central issue? I guess try to not lose anybody to Union City, but I have no idea with their problem. Other than that, I thought the regions that trogan put out are accurate. It's a waiting game.
  11. If that's true, man Region 7 will be ridiculously hard. But I don't know if that'll happen because that's unfair for Lexington traveling to Memphis. However, thanks for the insight.
  12. DHS, want to wish you guys nothing but the best of luck heading into November. Obviously, the goal now for y'all is to get as much done as you can while not getting hurt. Sucks to see that you probably won't play another game that appears competitive on paper until mid-November (another month basically). While my guys get ready to challenge Hookfin's boys for a region crown, I don't think we have enough this year to make damage in November, but who knows! Crazy things have happened before with us. Goodluck to Liberty and incase you haven't been reminded this week... Milan is loaded!!!!
  13. I have to agree with what MSURacer said. First, there's no 6A schools in West Tennessee other than schools in Shelby County. The same goes for 5A with the exception of Henry County, Brighton, Munford, and Shelby County schools. There's 95 counties in the state of Tennessee, 21 of them are in West Tennessee. So there's 74 counties in Middle and East Tennessee alone. And Memphis is not growing like Nashville and Murfreesboro. So all West Tennessee has is Memphis and Jackson. And back to the 21 counties in West Tennessee, 9 of them only have 1 high school in that county. Have to admit, I was really surprised by the Oakland/Haywood score. I was hoping Haywood would compete better than what the scoreboard indicates.
  14. All I know is that it's suppose to be near 80 degrees today, but I cold front is coming on Friday I believe. That's all I can tell you.

  16. To make things a little worse about what cofo said about South Gibson's opponets combined record (which is really 7-41), Obion Central's one and only came against a win-less South Side team. However, the good news about South Gibson, they are starting to play better football on the scoreboard. Only beat Jackson Christian by 4, only beat Obion Central by 5, but they did beat Westview by 20, and TCA by 31. All said and stone, Liberty will take this one easily. Coming off a bye week, they are done with their meat of their schedule. Playing three easy opponents. They are going to walk into the playoffs. Liberty 42 South Gibson 13
  17. I agree with what you said. When the refree on Milan's sideline went out to the goalpost, the guy that's doing the clock should be able to call timeouts for Milan. The field goal attempt was on the far hash (USJ side), therefore, the closest referee is still about 35 yards from Milan's sideline, probably focused on whatever he needs to focused on. Out of all the high school games I've witnessed as a fan and a former player, I've never seen a clock guy call a timeout. Not having a referee on the home sideline puts Milan out to dry in that situation, while USJ still has their ref. It can cost someone a region game, and could cost someone a playoff (we've seen strange things happen). Other than that, I thought they did a pretty decent job.
  18. Hate it for Gibson County. First, they have an amazing girls basketball and band program, but that's really about it. There's a lot of history that has walked inside the hallways of Gibson County High School. There's something special every time I go there to watch a basketball game. Moving onto football, I hate it. We all know they are not good, however, improving. Seems like Gibson County will always get the 'leftovers' aka Dyer and Rutherford kids. So for the kids that walks inside the hallways at Gibson County, they have my respect. I like Trinity to win in this game, pretty big. I hope the Lions can have some momentum as they head to Scotts Hill the following week. They could win out and finish 5-5, which exceeded my expectations. Also that means they'll host a playoff game. TCA 35 Gibson County 14
  19. Illegal Batting Rule states (Rule 9-7) ART. 1... No player shall intentionally kick the ball other than as a free or scrimmage kick. ART. 2... No player shall bat a loose ball other than a pass or a fumble in flight, or a low scrimmage kick in flight which he is attempting to block in or behind the expanded neutral zone. Great play! Don't think it should have happened.
  20. I know a lot of people will not question Rusty Bradley on this game, but I believe his offense play-calling is what cost them this game, especially in the last few minutes of this game. First, on the two point conversion. If you put in a new running back (#51 for USJ), you kind of just gave the Milan's defense an indication that they (USJ) will be running the football on that 2 point conversion. Doubt Milan's defense recognized it, but anyways, thanks for the hint. Second, I 100000% disagree with going for the 57 yard field goal on 4th down. The wind was blowing from right to left, making it a cross win. I thought it would be better off if USJ went for it with around 25 seconds left. Just a little 5 yard slant route will make everything better. However, USJ did drop some passes that should've been caught. Just don't agree with kicking the 57 yard field goal with 25 seconds left on 4th & 2. That's all. Another 10-12 yards would've made everything much better for the Bruins, field goal would've been near 42-45 yards. Even college and pro kickers can't make 57 yard field goals when the game is on the line, kind of knew USJ's kicker had no chance at all of making it when he was rushed onto the field and hurried everything. That destroyed their chances! There's a lot of things you can do on that 4th&2. Jet sweep, Power I behind Trey Smith, and even a QB iso behind Trey Smith as well with a running back and a pulling guard as lead blockers, but I don't think USJ has that in their playbook. Just pass here and pass there. Sucks when there's a 6"5 300 pound left tackle playing for your H.S. team and you don't use him to his capability. When will USJ get another 6"5 300 pound lineman again? Meanwhile, great game between two great programs. USJ impressed a lot of people on Friday, including me. I hope USJ will play opponents like Milan starting next year.
  21. You're right. Winner of North Side and Haywood next week, wins region.
