I'm just wondering who are the best football players to come out of each school and maybe what they did athletically after high school.

Riverdale:

Fernando Bryant ('91-'94).... U of Alabama.... Jax. Jaguars, Detroit Lions

Eric Locke ('94-'97).... U of Alababma, U of Tennessee

Dennis Harrison ('71-'74).... Vanderbilt.... Phil. Eagles, Atl. Falcons, SF 49ers

Sequatchie County, no NFL players but two got major looks. Hard to choose between 3 linebackers:

Jeff Cartwright, Vanderbilt, 83 or so, almost positive was on last Vandy team to beat Tennessee, got a tryout with Seahawks but didn't make it.

Tony Cates, Air Force, transferred to Vandy for medical reasons (couldn't fly due to diabetic condition), 88-92, started as an undersized (230) defensive end for AF team that beat Mississippi State in Liberty Bowl, then for Vandy as a senior, 5-6 team that was prob Vandy's best in at least 15 years.

Josh Cain, UT-Chattanooga, 99-02, two-time 1-AA All-American, 30 tackles in 1 game as junior, led all of college football in tackles as senior, on UTC's All-Century team. Offered by MTSU just before they went 1-A, probably should have taken it as UTC struggled despite his efforts. Signed with Bears as free agent, had the strength (40x in 225) and was told they liked his hustle and attitude, but probably just didn't have the quickness to play at that level, height (listed as 6-1) could also have been a problem. Still could have been a 1-A player and done well.

His brother Jordan Cain could be on this list before too long. 6-3 and up to 185 to 190 pounds after a RS year at UT-Martin, played QB at Seq but moved to WR and is working for a possible starting position this fall as a freshman. 38" vertical leap, handtimed sub 4.5 speed, UTC and others dropped the ball on him, just because they team wasn't exceptional shouldn't have scared them off.
