Milan vs USJ

Milan wins big but those people bashing USJ need to remember that this is probably the worst team USJ has fielded in a very long time. They lost alot of seniors off last year's team, including a guy that is playin starting quarterback as a freshman in college. Like I've said before, you better get all your hits in right now, they'll be back. They may not dominate like they did single A but they will definately compete.

Pretty much every team in the region with USJ lost good senior players from last season's teams. That's a way of life in high school football. Nobody on here can logically deny that USJ has had some good teams in the past BUT, they are playing in a different world now.

It's one thing to get "up" for a big game a couple of times a year but, in this region there almost all gonna be big games for the Bruins and many of those game will be with teams that are frankly better than USJ. Now they have to think being prepared for a brutal AA schedule every season as opposed to a so-so A schedule.

I agree they will compete for the playoffs in about 2 years or maybe even next year. However, this is now, and the Bruins are about to take the worst woodshed beating that's ever been witnessed at the Bruins homefield this Friday night.

Milan 48

USJ 0

Disclaimer:

Formula used to determine score is based on Milan starters playing the entire game.

Milan will crush USJ 49-3.. Yea you're right about USJ being good someday. That's when Marley goes to Milan and gets a fullback, two halfbacks from Lexington, tackles from Gibson County, kicker from Bolivar and receivers from Covington, etc.,etc. Middleton would be good too if they could get all-stars from the West-Tennessee area. Marley's "scouts" camped out in Huntingdon less than 3 years ago trying to get some very good current Mustang players to go to USJ.

It would be interesting to know how what players went from their school to play for the Bruins....... :D

Mr. Mustang ... You don't mean to say that some schools would recruit? That would be unheard of .... right?

If you are going to talk about recruiting, what about these schools with special school districts?

Almost every good athlete in Gibson County has gone to Milan in the past 10 years. It didn't matter if they were zoned for Humboldt, Trenton, or Gibson Co. If they could play ball, they could go to school in the Milan Special School district and play football.

Don't hate on people for sending there kids to private schools. They feel that is what is best for there kids. It's their money and their kids, let them do what they want to with 'em.

I would also like to say that USJ is definitely down this year. They were beaten pretty easily by a JCS team that just recently destroyed my Hawks(which are 3A). If JCS would have been moved to 2A this year instead of USJ they would have probably pulled a few upsets and made the playoffs.

USJ is young, but in a year or two they will be back in they playoff hunt.

I say......

Milan-35

USJ-7

GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rezoning and the federal mandate that applies to the Gibson County Schools will reduce that by a great amount now. If any student wants to go to one of those schools, then they will have to prove that they live in that zoning area for that particular school. I know of a few Milan kids who this past year, their parents bought housing in Milan and moved from Humboldt, the same for a couple of Trenton players who lived in Humboldt. Did I just say that? Ooops. Sorry about that Humboldt ... guess you better be careful who you sue from now on ....

<looks at the records for Gibson County teams this year>

Gibson County (3-1)

Trenton (3-0)

Milan (2-0) ... should be (5-0) in two weeks.

Humboldt (0-3)

It looks like the rezoning has had some affects so far. I wonder what it'll do as the years go by. :P

It's ironic that you mention recruiting since you're starting wide receiver just up and moved to Huntingdon from USJ a couple of years ago.

Nothing against the kid; his family has to do what's best for him. But keep your glass house in mind next time you're throwing stones!

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
