This year has some very interesting matchups...and there could be a few upsets.

 

The Anderson Co./Johnson Co. matchup is very interesting. Greenbrier/Notre Dame looks at a good matchup. Goodpasture/Page and Ezell Harding/Loretto could be good ones as well.

 

I think your 8 in A-AA will be Anderson Co., Knox Catholic, East Ridge, Notre Dame, Goodpasture, Ezell-Harding, USJ, and Crockett Co.

 

The AAA matchups seem pretty good, too.

Red Bank/Cookeville, LaVergne/Franklin, and Cordova/Collierville are interesting matchups.

 

In AAA, your final 8 will be Sullivan South, Farragut, Red Bank, Siegel, LaVergne, Brentwood, Collierville, and Germantown.

 

Who knows what will happen, but I bet there will be some upsets this year.

If Cookeville can play like they have against Siegel the last two weeks, then this will be a great match. They must find some offense however, there defense is great. Red Bank is on a roll.

Yes, Cookeville will have to play well to win the section! They are a team that is always beatable and has to work hard to beat the good teams. Whow knows it should be a good game... but Brentwood is the ultimate fav in the state tourney

this (the sectional) is new ground for knox catholic. they have played well all season and seem to be peaking at the right time. i dont know much about sullivan north. it will be interesting to see the outcome. playing at home will be an advantage for knox catholic considering they havent been here before. should ease some tensions.

 

the other "best matchup" i am familiar with looks to be Johnson County and Anderson County. both good teams and looks very even going into tonight. a winner? i aint going there!

I haven't seen Page but I have seen Goodpasture and they are quite impressive.

Before some 700 screaming fans, Coach Cathy Paulk/Slaughter for the second year in a row directed the third year Stars to its second appearance in the State

Tournament by beating a very fine Bradley County in three games. Siegels FAB 6 Seniors met one of their goals for the year and were led by Seniors Amanda Horencamp, Stephanie Cutter, Sara Lucas.

It was especially fulfilling for the gritty Coach Slaughter which developed this team three years ago in a mold which typified how she played a few years back. It is evident that this team is full of winners as two ladies have commited to University grants. The fans left tonite wondering which of the others might commit next. Good Luck to the Stars in the State Tournament.

Franklin wins 25-9, 20-25, 25-9, 25-18. The wolverines gave it a run, but #14 and the powerslide was too much. LaVergne ends its season at 41-13.
