rollredroll
Statistics don't lie redroll, but you could also make the point that the top five or six schools from each public classification would have a similar record, if not better, against their own and the Div-II schools. Either way good teams win. I'd take maryville at four wins to a loss vs a D-II schedule. I agree, and certainly would feel good about putting the top few DI programs in a given year (MHS would undoubtedly be on that list) against a South Panola, or any other regional power from another state, in the hopes of Tennessee being represented well. However, it is hard for us DII supporters not to scoff at baseless comments ("weak DIV II") like the one a couple of posts back. As you said, the statistics don't lie, and yet naysayers still try to shoot holes in the results. I don't know if MUS is the best team in the state, nor do I know who really is, and without a consolidated playoff system, none of us do. I do know that MUS beat a team (in the state title game) that handed a 4A finalist its only loss, as well as demolished a fellow league member which handed a 5A finalist its only loss. Does that make MUS the best in state? Who knows, but it certainly doesn't make MUS "weak", that's for sure. FOOTBALLFAN1960
what u mean ask Melrose fans? It's not like Maryville blew us out last year. They beatus 7-6.We had more fans at that game than Maryville. .............................................................................................................................ATABOY! Melrose Always travels with the Largest fan base i know of..NONE EXCLUDED!...And im not from Memphis but do live in West tn and up until this year we had to play Melrose yearly in rounds 1-4 and they Always outnumbered our fans which travel as well as anyone...Maryville and Melrose are both very good teams but i dont believe either one of them wants anything to do with South Panola!!!...Hopefully all fans, players, and coaches have safe trips to and from game! GO MELROSE! Give"EM" Cooper,Cooper,Cooper! BRING THE GOLD BALL BACK TO WEST TN !
FOOTBALLFAN1960
These are the facts. 1.) Riverdale beat a top team in Ohio 2.) Ohio is known as one of the top high school football states 3.) So, Yes, Riverdale would beat the top team in Misssissippi, from Biolixi, to Ripley, to Starkville, to Jackson. .............................................................................................................................YEAH and they couldnt beat Oak Ridge and luckily got by Cookeville!which is to jog your memory ARE Tennessee H.S. teams!! Hows that for National Ranking??? So why so much talk about Riverdale being the best to represent Tennessee..HYPE,HYPE,HYPE..this is about the Best team to represent Tennessee not a LOSER! Actually theres No way to say which team is the best..its only facts and paper fiction much like the college Polls...They are a joke too..take the refs preferences out of the equation and USC and Texas both have at least one loss and most likely two.. .. SergeantOwl22
it also says Riverdale could not beat Ooltewah nor Farragut and Dobyns Bennett and probably have a hard time with William Blount. Oak Ridge had to play the best teams in Region 2 5A as well as the rest the last three weeks of the regular season which is now known as the mini playoffs. Our numbers do not lie 50 and 40 no other Region can match this big boy. The Beast from the East Region 2 5A

the1andonly13
Those "weak DIV II PREP" teams just happen to be 52-20 versus DI-5A teams and 42-8 versus DI-4A teams since the split in 1997. well the DI-4A team your indirectly bashing happens to be 92-9 in the past 7 YEARS!!! beat that stat buddy
Rebel Nation
Ummmm...last time I checked, Riverdale wasn't the best team in the state.... Honestly, you have to be familiar with the forward pass to be the best. Not a knock...just the truth.
