Bad situation at Powell High School

I agree with you on the ACT end of this topic HTV. It is hard BUT it can be done! And I have not said anything about the grade changing or whether Lee was involved.

 

I know you didn't. I've simply heard a lot of people mention that he's been accused of that and that's just not accurate.

 

Honestly, we probably are pretty much on the same page on this one. The truth of what happened is what I believe that both of us are looking for.

HTV and others, I got on this post to offer up my condolences to those involved. The sad thing is that now HTV has pointed fingers and tried to start rumors about someone's softball coach. THIS IS HOW SO MANY THINGS GET STARTED!!!!! Let the ones in charge do their jobs and tell the media to leave people's lives alone. It is for the police and the courts to decide who is guilty or innocent, not the media

Like i've said before, Lee's no choir boy, but he's no John Dillinger, either. I'd be really careful about pointing fingers. Ask around as to why a school you support has a new softball coach. There were a lot af rumors there, too, and you might be surprised at what you learn.

 

 

Incredible HTV. As much as you run around the different boards and preach against the exact same thing you have posted, especially when it is directed at Powell. Where I come from this is called hypocrisy at it's highest level.

Well here we are again, sports fan. The team is on the one yard line and the question is, "can they finally score?" The ball is snapped, the quarterback runs back, he sees his big ol Div. I prospect in the inzone. He throws it. It's caught!! Touchdown!! The crowd cheers!! But hold on...there's a flag on the play. Apparently, it's a late hit call on the quarterback by his own runningback. The crowd throws big ol' Grainger County tomatoes at the ref. Ref's call is overturned. The touchdown is GOOD!! The band begins playing the theme from The Dukes of Hazard. The ref is escorted from the field and replace by a former resigned football coach.

 

On the serious side....no timeline....no harm to students.

I said that there were rumors. I didn't mention a school or anything specific on who the coach might be or what the rumors were about.

 

My point has been made. You can't go on rumors, especially rumors that get spread and embellished on an internet message board involving a rival school or community.

What is this world coming to? I leave and go to Orange Beach for some r & r for a few days, come back and bingo, Lee Smith and the Powell Panthers are in the news. All I know is what I read here and in the paper and hear from people in our community. Pity on the Smith family, how much more controversey can they take (transfer here, there, everywhere, dad gets mad at Joel, etc.).

HTV, you are truly a great man. No one can stand behind the Smith's and the Panthers through all of this over the past 3-4 years and not go crazy.

You really do have a problem with reading comprehension, don't you? Where have I passed judgment or declared innocence for anybody in this thread? Look back at what i've written. If you have the ablitity to comprehend what you read you will see that I've said more than once that all I want, along with a large majority of the community, is the truth, whatever that truth may be.

Are you really that petty? The original post was simply to link the story for everybody to read for themselves. You are probably the only person on this forum who doesn't understand that I was talking about the two administrators who were named in the story when I mentioned "alleged adults". "Alleged" in that context was meant to emphasize the fact that they weren't thinking and acting like adults should.

 

When I originally linked that story, by the way, it didn't even mention Lee. The story was later edited to include him when his signed statement of denial was released by attorney Gregory Isaacs.

 

Did you really not understand that, or are you just trying to find something petty to argue with me about?

 

I mentioned Mark Majors because I wanted to emphasize that he was not named in the story and no allegations were leveled against him.
