muffin
If the truth came out,at least 25% have had pads and helmets on before now.
BDURHAM
Maybe not that many, but they are out there. If the truth came out,at least 25% have had pads and helmets on before now.
Ole Dad
So what? A couple of days won't mean squat. In the end the best teams will win and 2 or 3 days in pads or out of pads won't matter. It's keeps Old farts like the posters on here busy. Ole Dad If the truth came out,at least 25% have had pads and helmets on before now. BigDogDaddy
I think the intent of the rule is to slowly bring the players around to the conditioning factor. Particularly as it relates to adjusting to the heat. It is probably better to go three or four days with helmets and then three or four days with helmets and shoulder pads before opening up to all out full pads. The summer rule IMO should say no full pads or tackling until whatever date

Ole Dad A rule is a rule! and if they broke it then they should be punished some how. I don't think it should be too hard of a punishment though (for a 1st offense). Maybe not let them put pads on till Aug. 2nd or 3rd. If it happened again take scrimmages away from them.

I think that a middle school is governed a bit differently than hs, right?

BigDogDaddy
I think that a middle school is governed a bit differently than hs, right? Correct, Middle Schools are not part of TSSAA, they have to wait till August 1st rather than July 31st
BDURHAM
What if a player is injured while in pads early? The insurance issue alone should influence a coach's decision. You can risk everything if something bad happens.
