Anybody hear what BGA decided to do?

BGA and Ensworth have decided to go Div II AA beginning next season. This was reported in the morning edition of the Nashville Tennessean. BGA gave reasons of being able to compete in all other sports at this level. Ensworth's football coach stated that it was going to be a tough road for them.

West

CBHS

MUS

ECS

Briarcrest

St. Benedict

Ensworth

MBA

East

McCallie

BA

Two teams from the middle will have to go west to even up the regions

This is not going to happen. Look for the Middle Tennessee teams to stay in Middle Tennessee. Why would MBA and Ensworth want to travel to Memphis every other weekend to play a game? They are trying to cut down on travel not increase travel and time away from academics.

I'm not sure if that was speculative or if someone has actually decided this. I doubt it's finalized.

in 2009 would that mean the CAK's, Catholic, Notre Dame, all privates no matter what would hafta go bac to DII

Do not forget the addition of Nashville Christioan, David Lipscomb, Ezell Harding, Goodpasture, Not to mention those you listed. There are a total of 20+ private schools playing in DI. If they all move it would be a complete change in how things are done.

Remember it is not all about who recruits and who doesn't. Travel expenses would be covered because private schools bring a crowd to games and OPublic does not usually bring that big of a crowd.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
