District 11AA

Well I see this being just like last year. SC will win against Cheatham home, Sycamore away, Once against Harpeth, Beat MCHS twice and get Wavo.They will end up playing Cheatham sometime during the tourney and beat them on their home floor like SCHS did. I mean it took them a bank in three at home where SC hasn't shot good. There are no morale victories and this was a tough loss. I expect their coaches to get them ready for Harpeth.

Question #1- Why are we dwelling on the success, or in most cases, lack thereof of last year's teams, games, and players? Is this the best defense any of you have?

 

 

Question #2- I noticed at the Cheatham game that the goals seemed really loose, and would shake after a missed shot or a hard bank. Does anyone else seem to think this may serve as a hindrance to the players? It sure seems it would make it a little tougher to get the ball to fall. After all, I did see a lot of in-and-outs.

Jake West put on a show last night @ Cheatham. I don't recall any of his shots going in and out, but rather in and in. West is a great player and Lancaster is solid, but that is ALL they have got. They are a disciplined, classy, and well-coached team, but it took a fantastic performance by West to keep them in the game. SC has enthusiastic fans who travel well, but They need to be a little more realistic in regards to their expectations. Bramlett does an excellent job with the players at his disposal. Huge win for the Cubs last night! They hit the big shots when they had to and got the job done. Looking forward to Friday's games.

I have enjoyed watching the exciting games in this district the last few years. I decided to go watch a game in the distrcit between a couple of terrible teams, MC and Fairview. I figured that since both are bad, it might be a tight game. The game was well played by Fairview for a change and MC lack of discipline cost them a win.

 

As good of a game as it was, I went away appalled at what I saw at the end of the game. There was a MC player, someone said his name is Dunn, that did something I have never seen at a high school game. The crowd was riding him pretty hard after he fouled out, but as the teams were leaving the court he flipped off the crowd and went after some of the fans. If Coach Young and the Fairview administrator had not stepped in, it could have gotten ugly.

 

This kid showed this type of attitude all night, arguing every call, yanking his jersey out and yelling at the refs as he left the floor. This was the first time i have seen him play, so is this normal in the district?

Just the opposite. Loose rims are a shooters best friend. Those in and outs would have clanged off the rim had the game been held in SC. I've read posts about how hard it is to shoot in SC's gym. A lot of that is due to the firmness of their double rims.

howdoitknow that's about right..I can support every word on this post. Last night was a good rival meeting, and CC came out of it with a Win. A win's a win, and they hit the big shot when needed. The Rebels need to find more offensive production outside of perennial West and Lancaster..though im sure everyone Already Knows this. I figured Hargis would've been drilling 3's even more his senior year, but he's been to laxed on his shot so far. Earhart had a heck of game jus the other week knockin down 3 3's...but everyone besides the Main two are too inconsistent. Step it up guys, they need ya to win.

Howdoitknow, I hardly think that the fans from Stewart County need to alter their expectations for the team. Why do you think this? If you are using the Cheatham County game as the basis for your information, you may want to reconsider your opinion because the game was excruciatingly close, and either team could have came out on top. From a neutral point of view, Stewart County's fans are conservative, clean-cut, and legitimate.

 

 

Cody Dunn, who plays for MC, always and I mean ALWAYS plays with an attitude. If only he knew that he had every official in the state ready to get him on the bench and keep him there. Obviously the school administration and the coaching staff don't incorporate character into their mission statements, because they have certainly made themselves the bad seed of the district. Never would you see anything QUITE like this from the other schools in the district. Not even Cheatham or Stewart.

Stewart has now lost 8 or 9 consecutive games against the 3 Cheatham County schools. They have a good coach, a valid MVP candidate in West, and a solid post player in Lancaster, but the supporting cast is not very strong. The reason I made a reference to fan expectations was partially in response to another thread on this site questioning the coaching at SC. It is absurd to blame their coaching staff for losing that game last night. It was an excellent high school basketball game, but SC came up short. Unrealistic expectations lead to things such as blaming the coaching staff when, in reality, the talent level at SC(top to bottom) is mediocre at best. I love the way the SC fans support the team at the games, but noboby with even a slight knowledge of the game would blame their coaches for losing last night. I wish SC and Coach Bramlett the best of luck the rest of the year.

Who's everybody got left? Harpeth has played everybody once except Montgomery Central and Stewart Co and they're through with Creekwood. They catch Cheatham on the road, Sycamore at home, Fairview and Wavo on the road. 6-2 the rest of the way out, 11-3 overall.
